I can't believe they gave into ONE complaint, whoever the Manager of the SeaTac airport is, he needs to go to e-bay see if he can buy a set...

Rabbi Elazar Bogomilsky made the request weeks ago, when he demanded officials add a menorah next to the trees and threatened to file a lawsuit if his request wasn't honored.

After consulting with lawyers, port staff believed that adding the menorah would have required adding symbols for other religions and cultures in the Northwest. Betancourt said staff didn't have time to play cultural anthropologists.
The guy did the job he was hired to do. Run the airport efficently.

Why would he threaten to sue? Just requesting should have been enough.
So now other suffer because of it.

It is hard to please everyone, but that should not mean that you should not please someone. You just can't win.....

How about, “Oh, I see you have Christmas trees in your airport, very nice. Could you also display a menorah? I’d be happy to provide one. Thank you.”
Why is this so hard?

Honestly, Christmas is one of America's most celebrated holidays. What's next, if you're gonna celebrate America's Independence Day, than you must also celebrate Israel's Independence Day and France's Independence Day?

This is the liberal ideals that seperate me from most of the "Left." They teach these ideas in school. After 9-11, for art class, I did a piece with an American Flag,. the world trade center in the background, and several American's rejoicing. This piece of "art" teacher tells me I must include EVERY OTHER NATION'S flag or I will not get a grade on it. The project was about "Unity after 9-11."

I took the F :lmao:

The only way to stop this insanity is for people to say NO to removing Christmas. Look how the chain stores went back to Merry Christmas this year since their customers demanded it. The manager of SeaTac should have left the Christmas trees, maybe put up a small Menorah, but that is all. Christmas trees are not religous, and neither is the belief in Santa Claus at the North Pole.

There are a LOT of indigenous American tribes/cultures in the NW. Plus the manager has to consider if he will offend any traveler that might just want to file a law suit.

NOT Politically Correct!!
Full-Size Christmas Trees to Return to Seattle Airport

Update: :buttkick: for removing the trees in the first place vice telling the guy to go play on the runways...

SEATAC, Wash. — The Christmas trees are going back up at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Port of Seattle officials had ordered the trees taken down over the weekend after a local rabbi threatened a lawsuit if a menorah wasn't also displayed at the airport.

Airport officials say they took that action out of concern that if they allowed the addition of a menorah, they would also have to display symbols of other religions and cultures, which was not something airport workers had time for during the busiest travel season of the year.

Rabbi Elazar Bogomilsky says he never asked that the trees be taken down, and the threat of a lawsuit was withdrawn.

With the threat of the lawsuit gone, airport spokesman Bob Parker says all 14 trees will go back up -- hopefully by tomorrow morning.

What's funny about this - but not really haha-funny - is the overworked, underpaid maintenance staff that got extra work because people feel the need to whine about stuff.

"Put up the Christmas decorations"

"No, take them down."

"Just kidding! No, really, put everything back up."

Isn't the airport privately owned? If so, they can put any decoration they want up.

The airport is a city-owned facility for the public's use, like a public park. So I say the airport should let Seattle-area groups from all religions put up holiday displays. Trees, menorahs, nativities, stars & crescents, pentacles, Buddhas, even an atomic symbol for atheism. And BlackLabman, how about an aluminum pole as well?
