Seeing spots

This is annoying. You know how if you look directly at the sun or a lightbulb you will see spots for a minute or so? Well I am having that with my left eye right now. No, I did not just look at a bright light. It's all around the left side of my vision. Had been right in the center, but it has now moved off to the left. Thank God for that because at first I couldn't read anything due to the interference from it. Now it is just annoying and partly obstructin my ability to read. Been going on for 30 minutes at this point.

Welcome to world of old people. :lmao: There is term for for that problem, you have like a little black speck that that feels likes it floats around or moves around in your eye right? The DW has had for a couple of years dont think there is anything you can do for it.

Im experiencing what could be described as a buzzing in the ears at times. Ive worked for the past 40 years sitting in a computer room for 90% of my day. I can go home and relax in the recliner and not a sound in the house and I hear what sounds like a locust buzzing off in the distance, not real loud but the sounds are there. Think there is term for this also.

:yeahthat: Eye doc told me if anything changes suddenly to come in ASAP.

Probably a good idea.

I had an issue 10 years ago..black spot..scotoma they called it. Diagnosis was optic neuritis..never found out what caused it and I had a bazillion tests. BUT..I never regained complete vision in that eye. :frown:

One of these two maybe.

1. Retinitis is the death of cells in the retina, the back of the eye. It can quickly cause blindness unless treated. CMV can spread throughout the body and infect several organs at once. The first signs of CMV retinitis are vision problems such as moving black spots. These are called "floaters." They may indicate an inflammation of the retina.
Spots and Floaters are small clumps of gel that form in the vitreous - the clear jelly-like fluid that fills the inside cavity of the eye. Although they appear to be in front of the eye, they are actually floating in the fluid inside the eye and are seen as shadows by the retina. They may appear as little dots, circles, lines or cobwebs and are normally caused by the aging process. Normally they are no cause for concern, but if they develop suddenly, you should consult your optometrist.

See an ophthalmologist ASAP.
Could be what others have written.
Could be something else.

I remember how freaked out my eye dr. was when he saw the damaged nerve (took a picture of behind the eye ball). Apparently there are a few very serious things that can cause it...luckily, I didn't have them.

Common term for this is 'floaters'. I've got lots of them. Yes, annoying.

However, what Hunter is describing sounds much more serious. I have an office mate who started having symptoms like that and wound up with a detached retina. If you have it re-attached quickly, success rate is very high. Wait, and success rate and blindness occur rapidly. Not saying this is what it might be, just that it's far better to get it looked at very quickly.

A blind spot like that can be a migraine as mentioned, could also be early stages of a stroke. All the more reason to get it looked at very quickly.

See a doctor, weren't you recently in an auto accident? Could be a delayed symptom from an injury you suffered.

My sister had an Ocular Migraine before. First started as wavy around the center of her eye. Kinds of like the wave you see when you watch heat rays coming off metal. Then went into lots of dots floating around. Image will move around in the eye. She couldn't see anything until it cleared. Doc said sometimes Ocular Migraines may or may not have pain associated with it. She had no pain, she just lost vision and couldn't see until it cleared.

:yeahthat: Just because its clearing up doesn't mean you shouldn't get it checked IMMEDIATELY! And have someone drive you, you could lose vision when you least expect it.

Good point. :yay: I may be Captain Obvious here, but this isn't something the likes of which you want to play around with. Better safe than sorry, and so on.
