Select Comfort Beds

My parents have a sleep number and they swear by it. Hubby and I just tested out a "memory foam" mattress and didn't like it at all! Seemed like it "swallowed us up"! We currently have a high end pillow top and hate it, so we're looking... He doesn't really like the feel of the sleep number, so we'll see!

I had no clue but my brother and sister in law have one and they swear by theirs too. They also have several cats (and more on the way, :smack: don't they watch Bob? er, Drew?) Anyway, I am really not worried about my decision. I can't wait for it to get here! :yahoo:

I was thinking about one of those too but never could find a price for them.

Thanks for the website that helped a little.

I like the sleep number. The advantage over the tempurpedic is that you can change the feel (from soft to hard) of the bed anytime the need arrises.

Do Not Waste Your $$$

Does anyone have or know of anyone that has one of these beds? They are also known as Sleep Number beds. I am considering buying one. Could use some input. TIA! :howdy:

i bought a queen size sleep number bed 3 years ago. it was ok for about a year and then little by little the structure started giving way. sure, they send replacement parts but while waiting for replacement parts we have to sleep in the double bed in our guest room. it is horrible. every couple of months something goes out on it - the mattress gets a hole in it or something else breaks.

google sleep number bed and go to some of the websites that discuss this bed. i wish i had done that before i spent $2700!

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned allergies. If sleep numbers are made of regular mattress material with an air mattress inside, then in reality the bed isn't much better than a run of the mill mattress in its ability to not absorb dust mites etc. That makes memory foam clearly superior in that regard...

Actually the mattress top unzips so you can vacuum all around and inside it. I can't do that with a regular mattress.

If you use a good quality, high thread count cotton sheet set, the memory foam is not as warm as when you use cheap sheets :smack:

If you have allergies, memory foam does not support dust mite life

I would never pay the price for the name tempurpedic. My foam set up can be adjusted for firmness, others can't :diva:

All memory foam is not the same firmness. I have great pillows but have tried others that were too hard or too low when slept on :coffee:

You may have already mentioned this, so I apologize if this is a repeat. What kind of foam set-up do you have? We're looking for something that is a little more firm than the double pillow top we have now.

I have a 7 inch memory foam and 2 inch topper. One side is flat and one side is sculpted on the topper. It used to be called Body Zone but they had to change the name. I think it is now Memory Zone.

And no Patch-ouli, just because I didn't buy Tempurpedic doesn't mean I got crap. This mattress was sold at local stores. I got my sheets at Kohl's. :biteme: :moon: :lmao:

My SIL has had the same problems. She has actually had to send hers back several times for replacement. Problem is, she has to pay for the shipping both ways. I'll stick with my waterbed.

I've been researching these and other beds the past two years. We've purchased three mattresses in the past five years as I've been trying to find one that doesn't hurt my back. With regard to Select Comfort beds, here's what I learned:
1) QVC sells the Select Comfort mattresses a lot cheaper than the storefronts do.
2) Comfortaire mattresses are a great alternative to Select Comfort. They're half the cost and made of the same material. I have one now and find them to be very good beds. Here's an epinions review Epinions.com - Compare Prices and Read Reviews on Comfortaire Cerulean Mattress at Epinions.com
Also unlike Select Comfort, Comfortaire also has favorable BBB ratings - which is what won me over.
