Separation Anxiety in Dogs

Little ol' Me
How do you fix this? Anyone else's dog have separation anxiety? Have they been getting destructive? My dog has been clawing at the carpet by the door when I leave - we put plastic down - fixed. Now she is clawing at door frames.

Any suggestion? I'd prefer not to crate her while I'm at work but it may have to come to that. Any suggestions? I read to spray "sour apple" spray on the frames to help, and I've found door protectors, however no frame protectors. Then I realized how about get to the source of the problem, not just what manifests itself as a result of the problem. Any suggestions?

Our oldest dog used to do this and we figured out that if we left the tv on to drowned out the quiet, it helped alot.

They must work then, and just like FF said, works for some, but not all, or something to that effect.

We sell Pet Naturals of Vermont products and I have personally use the calming formulas on my cats and on Dexter, the dog who has started getting squirelly when we have thunderstorms. They work for my pets but I can't guarentee they work for all pets. Same with the Feliway products. I have used them and seen a difference in my cats. Will the next person that tries the have results? Don't know...

But I do know that just because a product doesn't work for one animal, does not make it a bad product; it just means it did not work on yours.

Too bad the distributors of those wouldn't give samples out, like at the doctor's office. I know a lot of people that don't want to fork out money on something that might or might not work, but if they tried it and it worked, I think you'd have more sales.

If it's feasible, you might even consider doing samples. How many pills come in a bottle. Would it be feasible for you to "eat" the cost of a bottle or two if you could increase sales. Just a suggestion.

I know about the food samples, I took advantage of that to find the one that my pup liked. :yay: One of every kind of sample in the little bites. I found out he has expensive taste :ohwell: :killingme At least he's little and it doesn't cost a mortage payment to feed him. :roflmao:

I was referring to samples of this particular stuff.

According to the Ceaser Milan, you should spend at least 5 minutes every day going out the door and them coming back in immediatley. Each time you do it, increase the time you wait to come back in. I'm no expert, but it seems to work on dogs suffering from separation anxiety. Wish you luck.
