Shady Mile Rd reopen to RT4

In efforts to amaze and astound you (drum roll, please).... I will attempt to relay the message.

Shady Mile Drive, opposite of Rolling Road (where KMart resides) winds around and (currently) ends in a roundabout/turnabout circle with borders - like a cul de sac, sans houses. What is does have is a clear view and direct path to Rt. 4 - before it hits the 235/4 light. Opening that up will cut down on the traffic at that intersection, but increase exponentially, the traffic and hazzards going through the Shady Mile Drive little neighborhood, which also incidentally infiltrates Town Creek and so on.

Not a good thing to do - lots of kids, pets, soccer practice, bike riding, walkers, etc. back in the neighborhoods. The thought of this happening truly steams me.

Hey it's late...I don't have to work tomorrow..

Lucky duck. I had a 1/2 day today. I left the office at noon, came home and took a nap. Now, I think I am up for awhile, at least until the DH comes home.

We have all those things in my neighborhood and thru traffic as well, why is this road so special? Open the floodgates, as an MD taxpayer I would like to use that road to get to Rt 4 once again! :patriot:

I say open any and ALL roads to EVERYONE, not just those who live off it. We all pay for them, we should all use them.

shady mile rd

Opening this road would be disaster to us (to RT 4). People who live on this road go 50 plus MPH anyway, it's a wonder that someone has not been killed getting there mail out of there mailbox. Opening this road would let more idiots fly through there with no consideration for the people who live there.

Stop being a drama queen. We all have idiots driving over the speed limit through our neighborhoods. You aren't special.

Actually, twenty-plus years ago, the current Rt. 4 was constructed as a bypass for North Town Creek Dr/Shady Mile. It was a few years after they built the bridge.

:yeahthat: Shady Mile Drive used to be Patuxent Beach Road, which was the road to the bridge when it first opened in 77 or 78. Patuxent Beach Road was then divided into the current pieces (Shady Mile Drive, Kingston Creek, and North and South Patuxent Beach Road) when they put in Route 4.

Route 4 and Shady Mile Drive have NEVER been connected other than an illegal dirt road that they quickly shut down.

Shady Mile

I highly doubt anything like this would ever happen. There is so much traffic on Rt 4 that it would be a disaster. I live in Town Creek and I know that no residents here would let that happen. Also, Shady Mile is a narrow road, there would need to be lots of construction, as well as the catastrophe that would occur at its intersection on 235.

The reason I brought this up is that i had a flyer on my mailbox about a meeting with the planning commission in Lexington Park the other day. I have not read anything in the Enterprise or heard anybody else talk about it.

Can you give me the time, place of said meeting? I'd like to go and support the plan to connect Shady Mile Drive to Route 4 :yay:

The meeting was on Monday, I didn't see the flyer until I got home that night and it was no late to attend. It was from a guy who lives on the road. The meeting was with the planning commission
