You didn't seem to mention the ones that sympathized with her like myself and offered possible explanations. This forum, just like any community, is just a cross section of society. You have your good people, your bad people, and people that just complain. Again you are generalizing a whole group of people based on replies from one or two. Can you see the good in anything in life?
Give the Lady some credit, after all, she is an R.N. She sees the good, the bad, and the ugly all the time.

I like the forums...you get to see things from different perspectives.
They did say "welcome" to her post...I did the same thing. I joined years ago, and only recently I have begun to post--you can tell by my low number of posts!
I do think it was crazy of her to make the appointments close together...that is just common sense that you DON'T do something like that. My typical wait at the doctor's office is at least a half hour.
And I know most people in SOMD don't like the Shah's, I never had a bad experience with them!

Hmmm, have to agree, OP is at fault for making the appointments to close together, we all know nothing is fast at the doctors office for an appointment, that is nothing new. I won't bash OP though, I am just looking in from the outside.

When I call, I try to get the 1st appointment of the day or the 1st one after lunch.

This is the way to do it. I donno why people just don't get the 1st appointment of the day (1st after lunch is a tiny guessing game because doctors can get carried away with tacos just like me, but also really easy to hit). I have never waited. I wake up at 0530 for work, I can sleep in to 0630 and make the first appointment. If it's just yearly bloodwork/physical and not an emergency I can always get the 1st appointment.

I understand that folks don't always have that luxury, but routine checkups at 3pm or 10am are a waiting game. I also realize this doesn't apply to the topic creator because of MRI results and such, but the majority of people should aim for these types of appointments.

AND THIS is why these forums suck... she gets blamed for not posting enough or at all, then making her appointments too close. You people suck ass.

sorry to have offended you :flowers:
... I am thinking it is a regular members 'alt' account or MPD IMHO no one goes 3 yrs without posting anything ...

It is impossible for everybody to be first, that is the definition of first.

I had gone years without posting. I was only interested in reading and learning from the forums!

The point of my "first posting" was to emphasize how awful I was treated by the doc. It was important enough to me to let others know. I had never been screamed at by a "professional" who's job was supposed to be to help, not emotionally berate a person. I know I was pushing it by grabbing that 2:15 spot, I guess assuming they might actually be on time was my mistake, giving an hour between appointments. As far as him reading my MRI, at first he said he couldn't read it, but then he picked it up and glanced at it. Regardless, I just wanted to let folks know of my experience. I was in a horrible amount of pain, continue to be so, and to be treated in such a way was just horrible. That office will never see me again, as far as I'm concerned. I'll take my business to a doctor who actually cares and isn't looking for just that insurance paycheck

You had the worse experience at the doctor's than I ever heard before! How horrible. It is so horrible, that I think people just don't want to believe you!
So sorry you are in a lot of pain, and I hope you find another doctor as soon as you can! Good luck!!!

Unfortunately there aren't many around here that care about anything but the paycheck anymore. Growing up my family doctor was one of the old fashioned country doctors that would treat everything, knew myself and my whole family, would make house calls if necessary, etc... Now it seems most doctors are there just to tell you which specialist you should go see and they won't treat anything. When my old primary doctor retired I started going to a new guy that has the personality of a wet blanket and probably couldn't pick me out of a 3 person lineup. Good luck with your new doctor search, I hope you have better luck than I did.

This is sooo true!!! I wonder if this helps to contribute to people who go to the emergency room to be treated...I don't know...

My primary care doctor retired when ACA went live.

I have been seeing Dr. Bartozic (sp?) with Med-Star for my cardiology care and like him. Since I needed a new primary care, I figured I'd try out the new Med-Star office in Charlotte Hall. My Dr is from germany (I believe that's what he said), married to a U.S. military member. He was funny ("You're a couple inches too short" in reference to my being overweight, which got a chuckle out of me), easy to talk to and seemed very competent when I went in for my annual physical. I like that my cardiologist and primary care both have access to my records since they are part of the same parent org.

Making appointments is very easy too. I called them up and asked for an appointment, and they said they could take me that day, but I needed the next day, and that was not a problem. Got to the office, filled out the requisite paperwork and was taken back before I even finished the paperwork.

I do recommend this office. :yay:

This is just my opinion. It's not that Doctors don't care anymore, or that we don't have enough Doctors. I blame all of this on Insurances. Insurance doesn't really pay very well, and the Doctors have to do what I call "Sardine" their schedules in order to make more money. It's not as lucrative being a Doctor anymore. Especially with the Malpractice Insurance they have to pay. If the OPs story is true, this Doctor needs to find another profession. It sounds like s/he has a good case of burn-out. A friend that I grew up with became a Ob/Gyn, and after 15 years in the business, she opted to be a Professor instead.

I'm very pleased with them too. I was going to a doctor for many years that I loved until he went under the Shah group quite awhile back. It began to feel like I was in a cattle call at the office. It's a shame because I really liked him and he is an excellent doctor.

I know we've been back and forth before with Shaw Associates, and people seem to have strong opinions about them one way or the other. I enjoyed going to them up until my company changed insurance and I had to switch doctors. No complaints about them, or any of the staff I came in contact with - I enjoyed going for my doctor visits there. My husband, on the other hand, saw a different doctor there and had plenty of minor complaints - mostly things like prescriptions not called in, etc. I wonder what the nurse said to your doctor that made him berate you. Do you think maybe because you were in so much pain you might have been short with her, and she mistook it as being demanding?
There are a bunch of doctors at Shaw, I'm sure you can find one you feel more comfortable dealing with. Good luck

A Salute to all on Watch
I can personally say one Dr at Breton Medical is part of the problem with our HC system and contributed to what we have today; I was a patient of the Shah's for many years until I was given a referral to see a specialist and when I went the specialist asked me why I was there, told him Dr. Isuarez(sp) said I needed to see him, the specialist shook his head and said "you don't need to be here" and I questioned it as well as it scared me to be referred to an oncologist due to larger than "normal" lymph nodes when blood work always came back normal and no ill symptoms what so ever. My next apt with Isuarez was a month later and he asked me if I went to the oncologist and I said I did, he asked what he said, I told him exactly what he said, "I didn't need to be there and he doesn't know why you referred me" .... his answer is one that I will never forget and have never been back since, He said "you have insurance, WE might as well use it". Just a prime example of how some exploit the system to their benefit and I don't believe he did it for my well being as the oncologist was part of the Shah network as well. This was in '09.

He may have meant "I really didn't know what to do so I sent you there"
