:faint: That sucks for the GMHS grads around here.

:lmao:

However, if you run your vehicle through the carwash on RTE 235, next to Two Guys Collision Center, and - Popeyes Chicken on Great Mills Rd, you'll find they habla eengleesh very well!

What about the retail sales community? I'd venture to say they don't think the same way.

You pick up a package in any hardware or auto parts store, and you'll find the name of the item in Latino - on the reverse side of the box.

Bougias - do you know what those are? :lmao:

My taxes aren't being used to translate and double print retail items.

English , or some recognisable form of it ,should indeed be the official language of the United States.

Thousands upon thousands of immigrants have learned to speak English.

Whats so bad about requiring it of new immigrants?

I do agree with the idea that if you're going to make this country your home, you have to learn the english language.

If you're just visiting, that's a different story. Capish?

English:required.

OK...try these on for size:
a) Defendant demands retrial in felony case because he felt the translator for his lawyer was inadequate.

b) Accident occurs and patient cannot explain what happened to the officer nor what is wrong with them to the medic....complications follow in the ER.

c) Child is protected by law to have English as their second language so School system has to find accompanying tutors for all foreign born children. (at enormous cost)

d) Patient does not understand perscription instructions and is afraid to call...thus medical condition worsens.

e) After leaving a bar (with a.09 blood-alcohol level) individual decides to not call a taxi to take them home because he cannot provide decent directions.

f) A crew of workers is entrusted to complete a task that involves key measurements, mixtures, or step-by step sequences: the project is fouled because they failed to understand.

THIS IS LIFE NOW IN AMERICA...and it cost ALL of us. When will our people realize how much it costs us and simply say :NO MORE!!!

10 million? 15 million?...this is steadily destroying us.

Inner city youth will continue to have their language protected. That won't change.

There are plenty of English speakers who that happens to. It's a stupid problem, not a language problem.

Have you taken a cab in the last 30 years? Non-English speaking people are not the ones who have a problem being understood.

Same answer as d. above. There are plenty of non-English speakers who can run a tape measure. There are plenty of English speakers who can't.

When somebody says "anyone who can't master English doesn't deserve to live in America" obviously is not in touch with the half our society that "speaks" English but has not mastered it.

I don't have any problem with legal immigrants coming here and not being "masters" of the English language. I'm far more concerned about the English-fluent Saudi who is here illegally.

Aps had it right: all Government correspondence should be in English. If you choose not to be fluent, that's your problem not mine.

I totally agree. You go to any other country and decide to live there you need to learn to speak the language. What really bugs me is going into Lowes or JCPenny's and seeing every sign in Spanish under the English even on the gift cards but if you watch their commericals (Lowes) the signs in the commercial only have English on them. Whats up with that? I pay enough taxes on wasted spending I don't want it going to election ballots so people can vote in their own language.

French used to be the language of diplomats, but that is changing to English. Even the members of the U.N. prefer English.

Diplomatically, French Is a Faded Rose in an English Garden

Twenty-six states already have laws on the books making English their official language.

English is the official language of the European Union (with modifications).

English is the official language for airplane communications.

French is the official language of truffle searching swine.

Standard Arabic is the official language of Saudi terrorists.

Farsi is the official language of Iranian Qods terrorists.

Spanish is the official language of lettuce pickers.

If one immigrates to the United States, legally or illegally, assimilate. That means learning our language. Don't try to change us, it's our country. When I retire to Costa Rica, I don't expect them to change their language for me, I'll have to learn theirs if I expect to live there.

" In Houston, a Texan protesting amnesty for illegal immigrants argues that anyone who can't master English doesn't deserve to live in America."

...funni. I didnt notis where the sine sayed anything about mastring the langage.

Maybe the point is, seeings how we are a specified nation that, perhaps, it would be a good idea if basic things like specified borders and specified language were...specific?

The new immigrants are criminals, they've proven that by entering the country illegally. I hate seeing my tax money being used to support an illegal activity.

Wonder if we could file a claim to possesion of the state house since it's being used to commit a crime.
