Ski Trips this season?

I will be going to school at Piney Point for 10 weeks starting in January, and would like to get up to the slopes, somewhere, somehow. I ride a motorcycle, so are there any ski shops or clubs that put together weekend outings by bus, air, or van to get to West Virginia, Vermont, or wherever for a snow ski adventure? Any referrals to shops or travel agencies would be appreciated, as I am from Hawaii and have no idea where the resorts are, etc.

A few quick but small slopes are about 3-4 hrs aways.. White Tail in VA, Round Top and Liberty are in PA. All right by each other.

I make the trip to Wisp since it's much better skiing and more challenging then the other 3. Great place for a weekend trip..

Of course their are other places farther away.. Seven Springs, Blue Knob. etc..

As far as trips you can check the scheduled events on somd.com's front page.

I've been to Taos, Sugar Bush, Killington, Utah and many more. To far for a weekend get away..

Thanks for the suggestions. I cannot ride my BMW up to the slopes, so need to find transport/organized trip. I looked at "Snowshoe" in WV on the web, but it seems to have few lodging options for me traveling alone. Will look for the named resorts in your reply and see if they have web pages with ideas to get there, etc.
Last year I skied at Sugar Bowl, near Lake Tahoe, and the year before, Whistler, B.C.

Hey have you skied wintergreen?

I checked Wintergreen's web page and the rates are very reasonable, with some weekend packages, two days ski with one night stay. I guess now I just need to figure out how to get there safely (not experienced in riding a motorcycle in ice and snow conditions, so I think I will just skip that experience and find a ski shop outing, or rent an appropriate vehicle for the weekend?) thanks for the advice. I had no idea there were so many ski resorts so close to my school site. Looks like I will have a good winter in Maryland!?

Are you bringing your motorcycle from Hawaii?

There is also the local Budweiser ski trip.

I have also skied Sugar Bowl, Heavenly Valley, Squaw Valley as well as several of the Tahoe resorts.

I work on a NOAA research vessel, presently off the coast of South America putting in weather bouys, but I have my motorcycle with me on the ship. (Had a great adventure riding in the Andes mountains of Chile!) It has a Hawaii license plate, but has been all over the Americas these last few years.
In researching the front page of this SMC web, I found several military bases in the area, and my ID with NOAA allows some limited privleges like commissary and exchange. It might be possible that the military nearby arranges for ski outings, part of their recreation, special services programs. The only ski shops I could find online in the area don't have web pages, so I will try calling them when we get into our homeport of Charleston, South Carolina around Dec. 10th. "More will be revealed"

You should check with MWR on base. http://www.mwr.navy.mil/

I do not know what MWR stands for, but would appreciate getting any info I can to get skiing a few times this winter.
I also do not understand the comment about getting your permission to ski, but I am new to this forum, this area (what is the Bud Ski Trip and how do I find out about it?),
Thanks for the help! aloha, Barnacle Bill

I'll skip the bud trip, since I don't drink (11 years tommorrow!) I found the info from the Navy nearby, and it looks like they may have outdoor recreation as part of their welfare and morale program. Thanks for the help.
