i am pretty sure it was Wisp its in Virginia. I took a day trip out there in 1996 when we had all that snow. It was tiny with very short trails. Wintergreen has put in several of those large highspeed lifts and they rock.

I've been going to Wisp for years.. It was way small way back when. Didn't have nothing but small hotels and a few eats. But that was an attraction. Alot nicer then Round Top and Liberty at the time. White Tail came later.

Anyway... Most of the resorts have gone to the high speed lifts.. And more oriented around the more difficult area's..

The bunny lift don't have high speed lifts... :lmao:

I plan on skiing more this winter. I will probably need to take a refresher lesson before I attempt to ski again. It has been 5 years. I skiied every weekend when I lived in Mass. We lived 25 minutes from a small skiing place, and an hour from a mountain. Granted Killington, Smuggler's Notch, and Sugar Bush were further, but it was a day trip.

You work the inter-island cruise lines?

any reason you can't rent a car for the weekend?

... and if you're here on the 1/1/07 there a polarbear run scheduled.

I think the MWR on the base does arrange some kind of transportation (bus or van) from here to the ski resorts for the day trip. I usually drive to the local resort myself.

Ask, and you shall receive..

BMWBMW.org is the local BMW club.. 400+ members..

If you need anything PM or e-mail me and I'll see what I can do for you. We have tech days locally, and if there is a problem we can find someone that can help you fix it, or talk you through it.

If you need a place to service your bike my garage is always open, just let me know.

Great! I will check out the local club and get involved with weekend rides. I arrive back from Christmas holidays on Jan 7, so will not be able to make that Polar Bear ride that day. I have a R1100R with no wind protection, so I tend to stay away from rainy/harsh weather if possible. Thanks for the feedback. :yay:

Best place for a ski weekend is 7 Springs PA. http://www.7springs.com/ about a 4 hour drive from here depending on when you leave on Friday. I'm up there almost every weekend and would be glad to ski with you and show you around. Best for a day trip is Ski Roundtop, mentioned above. The base MWR usually has trips to Roundtop or Liberty on Fridays(Flyers should be on the bulliten boards soon) if they don't have a certain number of people signed up by Wednesday? I think they cancel the trip. A long weekend possibility would be Killington Vermont. I believe you can still catch a ski train from Union Station in DC to Killington.

That sounds great. A train ride to Vermont would be perfect, as we have no trains where I come from! I will check out the 7 Springs page to see about accomations for friday and saturday ski packages. There is a chance that another student will be interested in skiing, and have dependable transport other than a motorcycle. I need to check for "long weekends" during my stay at Piney Point and get reservations soon. If you are working on a trip to 7 Springs on one of those weekends, I would be happy to share gas expense, etc. and could use my moto to get to an easy meeting place, depending on where you would be leaving from. If you see flyers from MWR in the near future, I would appreciate you posting any contact info, phone# and dates so I can get on that list. I will look at the Amtrak schedule to see about Killington timing for leaving on a friday afternoon with return sunday night or monday morning. (I may not have time for this class!!!!?)
Thanks for the advice. Aloha, Barnacle Bill :yay:
