Always next year, dump the season now lol, they might be just good enough not to be the worse team, so Andrew Luck is out of reach with a draft pick, doesnt have to be a number one pick, look how good the kid looked for Minnesota yesterday against one of top defensive teams and Super Bowl Champs the Packers.

Same old story every year; hope for a top draft pick. :ohwell:

As of now we're looking at 9 picks in April 2012. The damned strike really wreaked havoc in the NFL this season. The teams that stayed mostly intact from last year seem to faring better than those with so so qb's and inexperienced offensive coordinators.

Cooley to IR today. The beginning of the end for #47?

Yep he has played his last game as a Redskin. He has been injury prone the past 2-3 years after signing that big contract. If they could trade him they might be able to get maybe 3rd or 4 th round pick for him, or maybe package him with some draft picks and maybe move up in the draft.

Heck, if it's anything like Portis, he's good for at least another 5 years.

This is another thing that needs to change, a la NE Pats, trading premier players who no longer fit the team and get real draft value out of them instead. Cooley, Moss, Portis 3 or even 4 years ago, all those people were not critical to the teams success, especially once they chose Davis, you gotta get when the getting is good. Nature of the beast of the modern NFL.

I have a man crush on Cooley, and I am not ashamed to admit it BUT in my heart of hearts I feel that the injuries are catching up to him. I would love to see him come back and play one more season after getting his knee squared away just to finish out his career as a Redskin and as an active player. If the front office is inclined to trade him after this season we will not get anything better than a 5th rounder for him.

IMHO, best case scenario is being able to come back and complete a season or two then retire. Second best (depending on recupertion time) is to restructure his salary for next season play 3/4 of the season then retire as a Redskin.

I hate the thought of having to see him leave the game, but he is still a young man and I feel that he would be a good addition to the Redskins broadcasting family especially as a possible replacement for Sam Huff.

I like #47 as well but the time has come. Use whatever value he has left, add to it and get a frickin QB. I figured this season would be a bust and if we end up with 7 wins I'll be happy, it's a rebuilding team and hopefully Shanny's plan will come together in the next 2 yrs, until we get a QB, we will never be an elite team. If Shanny's plan craps, we will be in a better position to go a different path, at least we're doing in through they draft and youth.

I don't think its his last game as a Redskin. He'll sign for a lesser contract next season. He'll likely be the #2 TE behind Fred Davis.

How quickly we forget. I guess last year was a year worth forgetting.

TE's aren't running backs. They can last years in the NFL.

What was Cooley's career year? Last year. Yes, last year.

He's not injury prone. Two seasons ago he had a broken tibia. Tough break.

This year he breaks a finger and has a lingering knee which isn't quite there. He'll be a Skin next year.

Why wouldn't the Skins pick up TO? They're in desperate need for a receiver...
Well, they could if they wanted to continue in the trend they've been in for the past two decades.

Play the young guys and get them some work. What do you accomplish by playing a 37+ year old TO?

Even if he was the 3rd receiver on the depth chart... Just seems like to me especially w/ Moss out, they could use a veteran so they don't have to throw to the tight ends every other play.

Go Dallas!
