Skunk!

I walked out on the back porch for my morning ritual of coffee and smoke, and it looks like something became supper/breakfast for something else. There's a huge patch of pink snow at the edge of the woods. I wonder which one of the neighbors cats won't be walking on my cars any more.

Tecnu Original Outdoor Skin Cleanser is known for the removal of poison ivy oil, but it can also remove the skunk smell from your pet's fur. That is according to their website.
Was originally meant for nuclear fallout. Great stuff, really works on dogs that have tussled with a skunk.

My St Bernard/Great Pyrenees used to get sprayed at least once every spring. Once Tecnu was introduced to me, it just became an annoying ritual, not a months long horror.

All that long hair kept that oil, and everytime she got wet (and she LOVED to play in the rain!) there was that stench!

I think I will always miss that dog. I would have another Pyrenees in a heartbeat.

I used to have a skunk that adopted my compost pile. Every evening after dinner I'd carry my bucket out to dump, and he was always sauntering toward me from the woods.

One evening I was late, and he must have given up on me. I was almost at the pile with my bucket, and he came running at me. I knew I was gonna get sprayed! I dumped that bucket and sprinted back to the house.

He and I were friends for a few years.

This stuff is AMAZING! You have to be sure to put it on the dry (but stinky) dog first and rub it in, then wash the dog. Don't put it on a wet dog, as the hair follicles open up and absorb the skunk smell.
Wished I’d have known about that stuff a dozen years ago when Emma got sprayed.

After many, many baths, and several years, all you had to do was let her get wet in the rain one time, and there was always a very faint whiff of skunk.

:lmao:

Good to know they like apples. I picked up a bag a couple weeks ago that went downhill fast. I think my resident 'possum just got lucky, unless the bloodstain was his.

FYI, they usually like them peeled LOL. They also like grapes and mangoes, bananas and
other fruits.

One of my young feral cats must have been hunting during the night. I found a ditch lobster in my driveway this morning.
