It's pretty hard to gain ALL of it back with the RNY.
She had the one where they either remove or band off most of your stomach so that you can only eat a tablespoon of food at a time.

And, knowing my mother, "she's gaining all her weight back" could mean she's put on 5 lbs.

That *could* be the LapBand.

See, it's been over a year for me. I've been effortlessly at the same weight for about 7 months now. NOT fluctuating.

AND I CHEAT. Terribly.

So to my thinking - to FAIL this in such a short time - you'd have to be chugging peanut oil non-stop to break it.

Because - I can't eat non-stop. I'll have a big lunch - and I can't eat till 9pm. I'll *try* to eat dinner at six - and make it halfway through a single bowl of chili (such as last night).

Even with cheating - I'll sneak in a bag or two of Cheezits - I am not gaining weight in the 13 months since surgery. Neither has any of the two or three dozen people I know, or the hundred or so I know on-line.

(Oh - that 95% figure I cited earlier? After five years. It's normal dieting and exercise after five years. For those who can succeed, more power to them. I was NOT willing to die trying to prove I could lose it the "right way". I just wanted to live my life).

Sam.. one of these days.. maybe in a few months after I get settled in my new life, after the wedding, etc., we'll have to talk about it again. And you'll have to point me in the direction of your doctors.

At the very least, I'd like to learn more about it. In the meantime, I'm going to try to keep down my weight via diet and exercise.

No problem. Anytime.

Something about WLS that makes everyone an evangelist - even a cautious one, like me. I emphatically do NOT recommend it for everyone, but I'd have no problem dedicating my life to helping those who need it.
