When the unemployment rate is high just having a job should be enough to motivate. Pretty sad when people can no longer be fired for being rude or incompetent.

Just like having a cushy fire-proof GS job makes all government employees work their tails off? Funny, for some reason I was under the impression the government's high paid employees were stereotyped for underperforming. I'm not disagreeing with you, but people tend to focus on low-paid service jobs as the "slackers" but ignore the fact that white collar employees can be equally woeful. Except bad employees can get fired at McDonald's.

Q: How many government employees would it take to run a McDonald's?
A: Probably more than a typical McDonald's staffs.

I understand what you're saying, but nobody is forcing them to work at these places. If you dont want to show up on time, every day your scheduled and do a good job, then leave and let someone who wants to work do it.

Some people can't get any other jobs because they're just not smart enough or don't know where to look. Or maybe they're lazy and like an easy paycheck for menial work. Who knows? Regardless, it's not like fast food restaurants attract premo employees, even though everyone demands premo performance when ordering their dollar meal items (you get what you pay for).

The best performing employees probably work evenings/weekends or summer since they're teenagers that are out of school and just looking for a job. But even then, people probably treat those employees like dirt, even though they may be working their way through college so they can be your future boss.

I'm not sure about that, I dont expect "premo" service when placing my order. What I do expect is my order to be correct. I would also like a thank you at the end of the transaction. Of course this isnt restricted to the fast food workers. Lets see, have you ever been to the Waldorf MVA? Talk about rude.

I wasn't specifically mentioning you with the response I made to you, but more in general terms. When the wait is more than a few minutes, people get upset. Considering we're paying for a cheap meal and not tipping, we're getting what we pay for. But everyone seems to expect that they walk in, immediately order, and then walk out with their food a minute later. That would be what I mean by "premo" service.

And sure, saying thank you would be nice, but why should they thank you for the joy of giving you food? Shouldn't you be thanking them for helping you? I can see the argument that they should thank you for your money and being a patron, but these people make a pittance and it's not exactly their top priority.

But you make a great point -- the MVA. That's far worse than any fast food experience I've ever had, and those are government employees.

see, I prefer the drive thru, because the inside always seems to be mayhem. sometimes people want to order up in 1 line that feeds into all registers, sometimes people want to get in line behind a specific register, etc. If you don't follow exactly what everyone else seems like they might be doing, they may get pissed off at you. For instance, say there are 2 registers that are busy and there's 1 person waiting. If you get in line behind one of the registers, the other person may get annoyed because you "cut" in line, since he was waiting for the next available register. Even though there's no sign saying how to line up! :jameo:

But then it gets worse, because that's only before the payment! After you pay, they shoo you away so they can take someone else's money. Then you have to sort of stand around with a bunch of other hungry and impatient people who want their food. Then other people ask if you're in line, which you're not because you're waiting on your food! :jameo: But then, they either forget your name, whisper your name, call you by the wrong name, or don't call your number, and a meal is placed down for someone to pick up. Then 4 people all want to run at it because it looks like THEIR big mac with fries, but nobody really knows who it's really for! :jameo: And then sometimes people are dishonest, grab someone else's meal, so you have to prove to them that they served your meal and you weren't the one who took it, assuming you asked for a receipt, so that way they put you back in the system to get you another meal. Or they could force you to start from square 1 if you don't have proof that you ordered and didn't receive a meal! :jameo:

Meanwhile, in the drive thru, unless a car cuts in line after you order (which is weird and basically doesn't happen), you know that you'll get your order and you don't have to deal with the rest of that mayhem.

I'm surprised you prefer going inside :lmao:

Hey aps...next time I go to taco bell can I pick you up so you can walk inside for my fat lazy ass? I have a family of 6, so sitting in drive thru makes it a hell of a lot easier than dragging 6 people into a fast food establishment and then carrying 6 cups of pop and 2 bags of food. Try doing that when holding the hands of two small children across the parking lot. Your a single dad...I wonder why.

Depending on what you look like he might go for it, at least he knows you put out.

Well, you see, I don't think about the slow, fast food places because I never go back and subsequently choose not to remember their existance.

I prefer to remember the FAST, fast food places. To be honest, the Chick-fil-a in First colony has consistantly had the friendliest staff and fastest turnaround times...even when packed with people. They are also consistant across ALL of their locations. Consistant, good service, fast food!

:yay:

Just take a minute and think of the fuel that gets used across the country from people in the drive through in one day. I think they should close them all.
Except liquor stores of course, you don't need a bunch of drunks walking around the parking lots.

Last weekend I was really hot and dirty, been installing flooring in the house and had just been to the dump. I stopped at the Taco BBell drive thru because I didnt want to subject others to my funk. I waited about 15 minutes, there were three cars behind me that left after their order was taken the wait was so long, the girl working the drive thru had no idea what to do.

Fast food "restaurants" are typically located in lower income neighborhoods. They attract employees from that area for obvious reasons. Therefore the employees are probably poorly educated, from lower income households and represent not a Corporate mentality, but one of low expectations. What do you expect, Guy Fietti serving you a double whammy greasy burger with a 1,000 calorie shake?

And speaking of that, the woman from Ohio whines that she stuffs her rugrats faces with that crap????? Okay, maybe I am out of the loop. (by the way its you're, not your)
