Yes the trucks got to their destination on Saturday and we’re unloaded by Saturday evening. The 1st stop was for the Lions Club - a local member in NC was allowing the use of his dairy farm as a receiving/distribution point for the Lions Clubs in the region. The 2nd stop was at an Operation Airdrop location.

I had numerous phone calls and emails yesterday concerning a second drive taking place in the next 2 weeks. The details haven’t been worked out yet but I will be sure to let everyone know here when I found out. If you do FB, look for the Ridge Lions Club page for any updates.

What is disturbing, is I see no North Carolina National Guard assisting at this location loading some of those supplies on their 2 1/2 and 5 ton trucks for delivery into the mountain regions that have road access, or to other staging areas closer for loading on mules, ATV's, etc... Or any similar locations posted on other websites.

Another push is being made for more supplies to be delivered to the NC hurricane victims. This drive is being led by the Ridge Lions Club, Deb Rey, the Knights of Columbus, and the Women Veterans United Committee. You can drop off items this coming week at Dean Lumber's warehouse C on Mervel Dean Road in Hollywood. Drop off hours are Mon-Wed 8am-2pm and Thurs 8am-Noon. They are looking for the following items:

Small propane tanks
Non perishable food items
Medical supplies ex. Bandaids , ace bandages, Tylenol etc
Baby diapers and wipes
Cleaning solutions
Clorox wipes
Brooms and mops
Damp rid
Since it is getting cold in the mountains now, they are also looking for some heat sources that don't need electricity. Any and all donations are welcome!
If you have time to give to the effort, feel free to drop by the warehouse to help unload and pack items to be delivered at a later date. Funny, not, that for some reason you and your store were not in the story in the St. Mary's County Times touting collections for those in NC.
I know you don't do these things for the glory and recognition. Though I still think it would be nice for the local county paper to recognize your efforts and contributions as well as staging the massive amounts of collected supplies for pickup and eventual delivery.

U-Haul on Great Mills Rd maybe? I know when Mike Hewitt owned/operated his U-Haul place on 235 he was generous with the donations for relief efforts back in the day. Even donated a large truck to one of them to haul stuff to NYC to be loaded in a shipping container (Blankets for Georgia...2014 I think it was).
