Whats the best way to keep snakes out of the yard or repellents that work?

Just trying to avoid having a freak attack when I see one.

Honestly the only way is to get a trapper or you could remove the snakes food source. Good luck with that.

Sorry about your phobia, snakes could care less about the fact that you are there. I used to have a fear of sharks when I would go surfing early in the morning. If my friend would catch a wave and I didn't Jaws theme would run through my head. Everytime I saw a fin I panic but it was always a dolphin.

Put a horsehair rope all around the perimeter. For snakes that already may be there get this.

I welcome the snakes. They don't bother you, and are the best rodent killers. Well, the copperheads can give you some grief, but I live near a stream and there's no way to encourage them to leave.

If you don't have any other animals, throw moth balls around or sprinkle granulated moth balls around the yard or shed. They don't like them and will stay away from them. :howdy:

You should thank whoever it was that taught you to be afraid of a small animal.

Mothballs are toxic to everybody, that's the point. Your dogs will NOT eat them and if you have dogs in the yard, you won't have snakes.

Lady across the street saw a black snake in her yard so she loaded the crawl space with mothballs. She wound up staying at a hotel because of the smell :killingme

:lmao: Reminds me of my grandmother... she used to put mothballs everywhere. Everything stunk.

Is that true?

Snakes are not aggressive to humans unless cornered or surprised. If there is a lot of constant activity in an area, they will usually stay away.
The only poisonous snake in southern MD is the copperhead. If you're a healthy adult and get bit, it probably won't kill you.
