Snow days

If I recall the cancellation rules in a suburb of Boston where I grew up, it was either 8 inches in 24 hours or 12 in 48, otherwise, school was ON.

I remember the huge ice rings that would build up on your pants cuffs and clank together, that and that quite often your hands were too cold to actually grab the zippers, you had to get help or wait...

Yep, and frozen eyelashes - you know how your eyes kind of "glue" together when you blink

Same with the nostrils

So, is anybody doing any great cooking or baking today?

So far I have six dozen orange-chocolate chip cookies, six dozen molasses cookies, two fruitcakes, a large pan of Almond Joy brownies, and am about to embark on some fudge and some Oreo Balls.

I love this shiat.

For a pan of those brownies I will be your bitch.

Perfectly reasonable to walk long distances up and down hill each way. If you kids thought about it, we had hills between school and home. Downhill portions became uphill portion on way home.

But now too hot, 86 deg and sunny almost too hot to put up outdoor decorations.

The school bus stops at every driveway around here, no general bus stops for everyone like when I was in school. The parents and school kids wait in the car for the bus to stop and drop off. God forbid if the chillin' had to walk to the end of their driveway to catch the bus. I get it to a point, but good grief we wonder why we have raised a generation of big thumbed and house bound kids.

And your parents walked up hill both ways, paper bags on their feet too !! My parents were in Sayre, Waverly, Athens, and Chemung, NY !! FF
No, I walked up hill both ways in boots, raincoat, whatever until the 7th grade. Then buses. If the snow plows came through, 6ft 7ft of snow, the buses had chains on them and you went to school.
