So how is covid really affecting your life?

I'm in FL and it's like it's not even happening here. Some businesses - typically large chains - have a sign saying to wear a mask, but most people are ignoring it. Restaurants are packed like usual, the only thing I notice is that there are a TON of jobs available. Almost everywhere I go has a help wanted sign in the window. They just had Bike Week with like 8 million bikers enjoying the city. Schools are fully open, as far as I can tell. Summer events are being promoted.

So what's going on where you are? Is everyone masked up and serious about it? Ya'll still teleworking? Kids still hanging out at home?

Work is 100% masking to get in and around the building.

I game the system with the escape clause of "no mask nessesary while eating or drinking" by keeping coffee at my desk ALL day.

I have only gone into a restaurant a handful of times, masking to the table and then taking it off.

I've gotten chased out of McKays for no mask by the Mgr. Glared out in Wallyworld by a couple of Karens. Asked to put my mask or or leave the BJs, so I abandoned the cart and left.

This basically ... except I got lectured for not having a glass of water in my hand constantly ..... basically picking my water bottle when someone came around the corner .... but there is minimal people between 6 - 8 so the 1srt few hours are mask free ... now that I am in the basement due to an office remodel I am stretching that out even more

Wearing a mask is really the only thing I've been doing different than regular cold and flu season.
Main effect is I consolidate my shopping so I'm doing that less.

I mask to appease my overlords. I wear a bandana around my neck during the day. If I peek around the corner and see the Service Manager with his Gator pulled up, I cover. That means a customer is masked. I like the fact that more people make eye contact when masked. When I enter a store, I enter masked. If others aren't wearing, I let it slide back down. Not bad now, but 90 degree weather is just around the bend.

Personally, other than having to wear a mask to get into a store, not much is different. However, indirectly, things are very different when it comes to shopping. Because of the mask, I now tend to get in, get what I need, and get out quickly. Doesn't matter if it's the grocery or hardware store. I used to like to take my time and browse-shop, so stores are losing out on that kind of business. Spur of the moment sales. Not just mine, I'm sure there are many others that do the same. I tend to do a lot more Internet shopping than I had, so again, local stores are not benefiting. I've cut way back on restaurant dining. I feel "pressured" to eat and get out, whether it's real or imagined, it bugs me, so more losses to local business.

On the plus side, doctor visits via telecon are great, don't have to waste hours for a 15 minute visit. But my cardiologist wants in-person visits, so this may not last much longer with him.

I typically remember to where a mask when I go to establishments, but ALWAYS forget the 6 foot rule. Just did an 'inside' bank transaction today and handed my papers to the person helping me... the manager rushes over to ensure I take two steps back to step inside the circle on the floor as I talk through my mask to the lady behind the desk in her mask.

Oh and I was in a bar Saturday and felt stupid as I stood there in my mask while talking to everyone who did not have to wear their mask because they were sitting. If you are seated you can take it off... standing must have it on. :tantrum

Well I've easily made over 200k due to the market crash last year, that's the biggest.

Have to wear a mask working and shopping. Work is kinda better because all of the other people that interfere with me doing my job are teleworking and not here to be a PITA.

Still in Max telework status. Doesn't seem like it's changing any time soon either (which I don't mind).

Telework makes more work, particularly with Piss Poor IT.
My ears are wearing out from having to slip a mask on every freaking time I walk out of my place.
It's tedious, would love a vacation, but the rules are still wack.

They want us shut in and shut down, total dependence on big tech and big gov.

I'm in a constant state of low level stress because of the entire covid atmosphere. The entire country is affected by the same virus but states take a different approach. Yet the results of states don't seem to indicate that less masks means more illness.

It's been like running a marathon but they haven't determined where the finish line is. So we keep jogging along. I'm so done with all this. I can't wait for this nonsense to finally be over.

I am masking only when required. Not outside at ALL now -due to the Governor's new regs, tho I noticed some people at Running Hare Vineyard still wearing masks outside. Both before my birthday and even still some on my birthday.

I had to have a yearly radiology test done yesterday. Got my text telling me to stay in my car until the text me. Did that until I got the Bat Signal text to come in. Wore my mask into the building. The lady at the desk in the hallway, masked, wearing gloves, hand sanitizer on the table, and 3 clipboards filled with a stack of sheets of the questionnaires (4-5 questions) to fill out before you are granted entrance. (and there are 2 containers of pens. ONE FOR USED, ONE FOR CLEANED PENS - the clipboards are not sanitized that I saw)

She didn't take my temperature though the sign on the front door says they will. The 4 questions are the standard "have you been around anyone...have you been out of state..."

Here's some more absurdity. THEN she says - go in that door and they will check you in. So I get to touch that door and go in and they check me in and give me more papers with a clipboard (and 2 more containers of pens. ONE FOR USED, ONE FOR CLEANED PENS...this has been the new "trend") and I update all my insurance/contact information. THEN, they say go out to the waiting area (back to where I started). THAT lady directs me to the waiting area in the hallway of this building which also houses the GYM. So all kinds of people are back & forth (wearing masks). The chairs ARE NOT "OFFICIALLY" SOCIALLY DISTANCED.

When the tech came out to get me-we have to walk a maize of hallways to get to where we need to be. I go into the dressing room, switch from my clothes to their gowns, she comes and gets me again and when I finally get into the Imaging room - she asks me my name, birthdate and THEN ASKS IF I HAD THE VACCINE. I said no, I had COVID, and she just moved on to the next question - which I can't remember. I said - (not snotty, but straight out) I guess no one cares if you have the virus, only if you get the vaccine. One thing I've noticed - -- people don't know what to say to you when you interrupt their script/narrative. She said "well, it keeps you out of the hospital" in a pretty snarky tone. ?????

Really? Because I had COVID and I wasn't in the hospital and she didn't really even ask me how I did or let me answer - all I said was I had a mild case, but she was moving right on to the imaging and dropped that convo like a hot potato.

We don't wear our masks at work any longer, I've had the Rona, and my other co-worker is halfway vaxxed. The other employees are outside/inside service oriented and they wear them when they need to. They follow our established protocols in place since last year, as that is the way it has to be as long as we go into customer's homes. We have many customers who don't care, though. :yay:

I insisted that SGI wear a mask in our offices all the time.

He flipped me off, like he always does.

I sure didn’t like flying to Florida recently....wearing a mask in airport and on the plane all the time really sucked.
