So I think I know what's wrong with young people these days

I kinda like this gibberish autotune garbage, rap nonsense, emo whiner bullshit.

Don't get me wrong - I love pop music. But we had rock to balance it out so we didn't get too wrapped around our own axle.

I love Maroon 5 - suck it, Gutfeld. I love Bruno Mars, and a few random songs by people who generally suck (talking to you, Justin Bieber). But they don't have any *rock*. If you look at the top rock bands of 2022, it's stuff that's at least 20 years old. Then you scroll down and see Tears for Fears on a rock list and you know young people have lost their way. Kings of Leon is not a rock band.

Grandkids like old music.

Maybe they spend too much time with me.

But, 14 yr old grdaughter likes Guns & Roses, they were never on my listen to list. She's introducing me.
Two of my Nephews were restricted to Meatloaf, Van Halen, AC/DC, Eagles, Yes and Iron Butterfly while riding in my truck, but somehow, over time, reverted to Country Music and Nickleback.

Guess there's only so much you can do.

I definitely was one of those "Disco Sucks" and "Death to Disco" - and there are still some disco songs I can't stand.
But I WILL play Parliament, KC, and Wild Cherry, if needed.

Me too. I don't think I KNOW of a Maroon 5 hit I don't like. Nickelback and Coldplay, who cares. I think if I heard one of their songs I'd have to look it up, and I used to have their CDs.

I think SOME of it is done just in fun. I am sure he doesn't hate Brian Kilmeade or Jesse Watters. It's just fun.

Here's to the rediscovery of Toad The Wet Sprocket. :buddies:
I had a good friend years ago who LOVED those guys long before anybody else had heard of them. He lent me some tapes and I asked what they were like. He said "like the Beatles, except depressing". Then when they came out with "All I Want" his reaction was I am so through with them.

I asked why? Because I know people who love some unknown band but lose interest when everyone else hears about them (like I was, with REO Speedwagon years before Hi Infidelity). He said well, you've heard them - does this song SOUND like them? They sold away their whole sound just to make bucks. Can't say he's wrong, but I also can't say I wouldn't do the same.

I seem to remember that was the theme for some short-lived cop drama. That may have had something to do with it.

Their music sucks. It's either gibberish autotune garbage, rap nonsense, or emo whiner bullshit. Where's their GNR? Where's their AC/DC? Their Bon Jovi, for gods sake? No Def Leppard. No Metallica. No ZZ Top or Motley Crue. Nothing to rock out to. We even had cool rock chicks like Heart and Joan Jett - all they have are talentless whiners like Miley Cyrus.

Do you suppose "they" did it on purpose, put out trash music to pop culturize these kids into fetal position losers? Like emotional saltpeter? And that's what's making them all trans?

These kids are melodramatic messes, then they lash out like lunatics to compensate. I suppose all 60 year olds have always looked at all 20 year olds and thought they were mental cases, but my god - today's kids are just a wreck and they wallow in it. My generation was dramatic, but not like this. Maybe because we didn't have the internet to find other messes to validate our comeapart - we at some point had to get our sh*t together and act like we had some sense because there wasn't a lot of tolerance for it.

Am I just being an intolerant old person?

New good music is out there, but you have to be able to find it, and that's not always easy.

Lame ass bullshit like Lizzo and Fetty Wap are being promoted over Asking Alexandra and Greta Van Fleet. It's a travesty and hopefully these kids will figure out what's been done to them before the entire generation goes down the shitter, if they haven't already.

PS:
And For the record, Metallica just released a pretty bad-ass album like a week or two ago.
