So, I'm an idiot...

I know, I know, hard to believe but, it's true.

2010 Tundra and for a year and a half now, I've been telling myself the headlights, the low beams, aim too low and I need to tell them about it next service, get it fixed. Never remember.

I pull up on the carport, listening to the radio for a few minutes and just sitting there, fiddling about and a button on the lower left dash that I've looked at however many dozens, or hundreds, of times that I always assumed was the fog lights...has a little dial next to it...so...I look a little closer. Huh. Maybe that is the dash light brightness nob? No, no...that is elsewhere, over here so, WTF?

A little, dim bulb comes on in my head...you don't suppose (not you, me, this was me thinking to myself) and, sure as hell...I turn the headlights on, can see them fine on the wall (it's dark and rainy and all) it's a low beam angle adjuster thingy dial. Up, up, up! Down, down, down...

So, I feel like an idiot. For now. Or, maybe I am a great, if somewhat excessively deliberate, discover-er of things!

Reminds me of something. I bought an almost new Ford F-250 pickup and had owned it for a couple of years before I got around to needing and installing an electric brake controller under the dash. A buddy that was very familiar with the install volunteered to give me a hand.

As we began the task, the first thing he does, after only a quick glance at the interior, is grab ahold of the turn signal lever, give it good shove forward and swing the steering wheel neatly up and out of our way a good bit.

I never knew the truck had a tilt wheel. Until then.

I have a question.

My Chevy Silverado has the headlights on all the time while driving.
Other Chevy Silverados I see during the day have the lower lights on as running lights.
How do I get my Chevy to do that?

What year? It might not be an option.
My 2000 GMC Sierra uses the running lights instead of the headlights.

But I could never figure out how to turn off the headlights if they were on (auto-on). There's a button called 'dome override' left of the steering wheel. Push it once, it turns the dome light on and off. Press it 4 times and you turn off the headlights. 4 more pushes turns them back on. Took me 6 years to find that one.

Something is wrong. Light sensor tells the lights to come on in low light conditions. On my 2002 if you hit the dome over ride button 4 times the lights go off and are controlled by the light switch.

:buddies:

I probably shouldn't share more embarassment..but I fetched up a good 3 mile walk to haul some gasoline to get a different F-250 going after it quit..despite the fact that I knew the aux tank was filled to the top and the fuel gauge even said so after I flipped the tank selector switch on the dash as the primary tank was running out.

Later I learned about the tank selector valve located in the floor under the bench seat.

And before anybody asks, NO, I do not stop and ask for directions when I am lost and YES, the first thing I throw away when I open up a product package is the instructions. 'kay?
