So proud, must temper my boasting

One of the scholarship sponsors just called and wants to reach out to the supervisor and ask them to give him an hour or so to come over to the event. I've got a call in to another parent whose child has worked there longer to see if they think the supervisor would say yes happily or say yes reluctantly and then reduce his hours as vengeance or say straight out NO. I don't know the lady so I don't really know how it would go. Maybe he'll end up going after all.

I'm rooting for you two err..three!!
Sending some positive karma your way so he can go!!

I agree with SoMDGirl, this is more important than a few hours at work. He deserves to bask in the glow of his accomplishments.

Well his supervisor was happy to shift his hours and cover the first half of his shift herself. So the scholarship sponsors are happy, the supervisor is content, and he can bask in his accomplishments. All is well!

Congratulations! Both you and your son get credit and can be proud of his accomplishments. There are sure to be more to come. Your son also learned a good lesson. It is okay to ask for what is right and offer a solution. All the best.

But still... His boss should seriously let him take off for something that important. :frown:

Tell us where he works? :D

Maybe his boss will make a donation to his scholarship fund for being a schmuck?

Oops! I spoke before reading. Glad it worked out for you. But you can still tell us where he works so we can go support :D

As long as you don't say anything negative. :nono:

Tuition/room/board is ridiculous. Our children need all the help they can get.

So, true. My daughter applied for numerous small ones. Examples: American Legion, Senatorial, House of Rep, Marine, Study Abroad, the actual college itself (hers was Frostburg). I think I left a couple out. She got them all. They were between 500 to 1000/year each, but it adds up, and all helped! Congratulations, to you and your son, Bresamil. It is definitely a key moment and milestone in a parent's life.

Congratulations to you and your son!

I think it was admirable that he didn't tell the boss to stuff it, even if he wanted to do so
