Yes I'm an MPD, But who's
Do you drive a super speed monorail?

It's me again... wanting more information on Mechanicsville area... what stores are there? Are there parks? Camping? What is La Plata like, which is likely where I am going to be working? I'm so curious, and can't seem to get a good picture in my mind about what this place is like! We see a house for rent there in Mechanicsville that has been posted since May... is that normal for a house to not rent for so long? It looks nice in the pictures...
yes parks. like John V. Baggett Park - where Moneta Strickland was recently randomly murdered. But don't worry too much, they found the killer. UPDATE: Police ask for Public
Calvert County is the smallest county in the entire state.
Laplata does have a theater also, it is the Port Tobacco Players.

Laplata also has several nice shopping centers.

yes, that is true, but when compared to where I lived last in PA, the county is still huge!!!
Uhh...how many tables are there in most coffee shops? Most Starbucks have around 5-10. What do you consider a "real" coffee shop? Does it have to be in the middle of a massive bookstore and have 20+ tables?66beans is no longer there, however another "coffee shop" opened in its place. (Sorry the name escapes me at the moment. There are only about 5 tables in their, so I really don't consider it a "real" coffee shop.
Contrary to what most people have said, there is a town of Mechanicsville.
No its not the big city but we are still a town...
From Mechanicsville it's a half hour drive to Colonial Beach, gramps.

Like NorthBeachPerso said, technically there's only 1 incorporated town in St Mary's county. I'd still call Mechanicsville a town, just as I'd call California or Lexington Park a town, but they're not official townships.
yes, that would be a dream come true, to have a massive bookstore and have 20 tables!!!!
Speaking of bookstores, do you know how many there are in St. Mary's county? We have none way up here in the Northern part of the county-we have to travel to Waldorf. Just curious...we used to go down to a bookstore in the Calif/hollywood area, but that one closed years ago. (Can't remember the name of the bookstore.)
Bay Books at Wildewood Shopping Center. It was a nice store. I know the owner. He was bummed about having to close it.
He flat couldn't compete against Amazon and e-books. Evolve or die.
No offense, Mudpuddle, but anyone who pines away for a b&m bookstore needs to be welcomed into the 21st century. Plus they can't make money with people sitting around reading the books - you have to actually buy something.
That's special.
