Why is it so hard to get customer service at best and a simple response at the worst? Have made 2 big ticket purchases in the past 6 months (new Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2 Sea Doos with trailer) and both have been purchased in Virginia. Why? Because when I tell you exactly what I want and that I'm stroking you a check for it and you can't seem to get off your a$$ and return a simple phone call or try to work with me on deliveries, product, etc., then I will gladly give the $$ to someone who will.

The Commonwealth of Virginia appreciates lazy Maryland business owners.

Unbelievable.

We had the same issue when attempting to purchase a boat. One place an employee even made a comment to another employee that my husband definitely did not look like he would even be approved for financing. My husband replied by pulling out the cash and saying "actually I was going to be paying with cash but have decided not to buy from here".

OMG! They said something like that where you could hear it...they deserved you walking out the door AND a call to the president or owner of the company! The employee should have been fired immediately!

Went car shopping, both dealers were helpful, and honest. Just couldn't find the right deal.
Inventory, not effort was the problem.
But I know what you mean.
About 7 years ago I went to a local dealer and told him what I wanted to see, he proceeded to show me everything but, he started with a crappy Jeep Cherokee... oops, sorry. Hopefully Jeep has improved their quality.

Unfortunately, it is not just limited to dealers. I have been having the same experiences with contractors to work on houses. I have been forced to shuffle my schedule to DIY a lot of things recently.

That's AWESOME! I hope that you got a good look at the knucklehead as hit his jaw hit the floor so that you can laugh about it and their loss.

Maybe they are still relying on the customer that only cares "how much is the monthly payment?"

I recently bought $90.00 worth of fuel and the Dash-In employee refused to take a $100.00 bill. Told me they don't keep that much cash on hand :killingme Since I only had cash, and not the right denominations, they called the sheriff and said I was refusing to pay and move on.

The nice deputy had the guy call someone, who called someone else. Then we had a little meeting in the parking lot to decide that "just this once, it would be ok". My position, why isn't US currency acceptable? Not everyone wants or "has to have" a credit/debit card. It's still being negotiated.

Ahhh YES! Yet another thread here on SOMD forums regarding the terrible service received when patronizing a local business or more complaints about the quality of workmanship!

Please remember this the next time you either:

A) Receive terrible service/workmanship and decide "It is what it is... I'll just pay and move on"

B) Decide to blame the customer! (Do some thread searching on here... plenty to be found!)

Just for future reference I have seen many businesses in the area that have signs saying they will not accept $100 bills. I asked a manager why this was once and they said it is because it is too easy for one $100 bill to disappear than it is for five $20's. I asked why they don't just put it in the safe, and they said there is not always a manager here that can open the safe. I am not trying to defend there actions because if that is all the customer has then there is no need to call the cops but if you ever go back to that place you should look around, I am sure you will see a sign that says no $100's or nothing over $20 etc....

Had the same problem when I went to buy my truck. Salesman tried to sell me everything on the lot BUT the Ford 150 4X4 crew cab that I went to buy. Finally said if you don't want my 50K I'll go to another ford dealership. He was convinced that I wouldn't be happy with my purchase. Tried explaining to him I had done my research and that is the truck I was there to buy. WTF? Who is he to tell me what I want. And before anyone says it, he was showing me all vehicles that had smaller sticker prices than what I went to buy so it wasn't his commission he was looking to increase.

I actually had a good experience at Lexington Park Dodge. I looked through their lot and they didn't have what I wanted so when a sales person came to talk to me I told her I wanted a Dodge RAM 1500 Sport fully loaded, and the color combination I wanted. After 15 minutes of searching she showed me one in PA that had everything I was looking for. I left without signing any papers and the next day I get a call it is on the lot so I go back, look it over, and buy it. I would definitely use them again but unfortunately for them I only buy every 10 years so they have 9 years to go.

I've had that same issue with contractors ... they won't even come out to give quotes. Then, I went in to a local business today to buy some gifts and no one would help me. I stood by the register for 5 minutes. Several employees walked past and no one offered to help. I ended up leaving the gifts on the counter and walking out.

Great service is why I always try to buy gifts from Cecil's Mill when it comes to local businesses!

I have been to Peebles in the square a couple of times this week and have been very pleased with the service I received.

How did you get the gas without paying in advance?

Yes, I have run into that and the one's that will come out give a quote and never call back even when I have asked for a start date with 50% up front in cash. I can do most of the work, I just do not have a lot of free time thanks to work and 2 babies so id is better for my relationship with my other half to pay to get something fixed or finished. I never thought that it would be so challenging for me (or anyone else for that matter) to willingly give money to someone to work on something at the house.
