Sad, but no. Road rage goes both ways. Biker kicks door because biker is mad and think self is bad ass because biker is biker. SUVer goes swerve and biker is sliding down road at 60 MPH in a tumbling tangle of metal and body parts and maybe even goes under the wheels of the SUV. "But officer, the bike was in my blind spot."
ATGATT, dress right and you won't slough off skin while you are sliding down the road..

I went too fast in a 30 or 35??? mph speed zone... couldn't miss work for the court date.... then was unable to attend the 2 hour point conference due to not getting the notice in the mail until a few weeks after it'd gone to the house (roommate carried it around in her bag a few weeks) and then the only weekend I could have attended this conference left on the list was the weekend me and BF were moving... so it was mandatory at this point that I go to the 6-8 hour class. It was torture.... I forgot how hard metal folding chairs can be when you have to sit in one for 6 hours straight and no room for crossing your legs or anything due to it being packed in the room - for 6 hours... I almost kissed the ground when I got out...

:duh:

If you did have to use the bathroom or whatever, you missed parts of the lecture and there were two tests you needed to pass at the end of lecture to get a certificate that gets sent to MVA that was based on this 6 hour lecture.

Another good school. A little more expensive but you can take courses in accident avoidance and highway safety to high performance training. I plan on taking my two young'uns after the youngest gets on the road here in another year or so for the accident avoidance course.

Plan on an overnight stay if you can, its a bit of a drive to Summit Point, WV from here. I've had a bunch of training from BSR and every course I took was a blast and I learned a lot.

I've got my son on the waiting list for the Driver's Edge course. It was booked up last spring, but hopefully he'll get in next time around. They've had it each spring in the Largo area, I believe. I read about this program in Dr. Gridlock's column and it sounds like a good course, and best of all it's free:

its also good because alot of insurance companies will take this into consideration and give you a discount on your rates ... same as for a driver improvement course if you get the certificate from passing the tests

i'm not saying i'm perfect, but has anyone noticed more careless driving around this area within the past 2yrs. Last week driving through Mechanicsville i had a motorcylce fly between me and another car then go off the side of the road to fly by more cars.

I was in a rush.

Today coming back from lunch, co-workers and myself had a scare. A red pick up truck just decided he wanted to occupy our roadspace. He just got over in the left lane falling to see that we were right beside him. My friend slammed on her horn, hit the brakes and managed to avoid being pushed into the curb. He never even noticed as he was on his cell phone and looking to the right. We proceeded to our left turn lane and here comes the red truck. He sticks his head out the window, smiles and waves as he passes us. He still has his cell phone in hand. When he passed it took a second for us to recognize him as one of St. Marys local celebrities. I guess he thought we were honking for a different reason. When we were really trying to tell him to pay attention.

I took this course too, a number of years ago. I got a speeding ticket and didn't want it on my record, cause otherwise it was clean. So I took the Saturday course.

Turns out, they are VERY strict about breaks. In fact, he informed us that if we took a break without asking his permission first, he would fail us. AND, if you asked to go to the bathroom and he caught you smoking, he would send you home and thus fail you. It was crazy. I felt like I was back in elementary school. Not that I smoked back then..... :lmao:

Nope, don't care about my driving record enough to be treated like that.. Think I would have told him to KMA, and went home..

Do you know who Doug Hill is? The weatherman? I forget what channel now...

Anyhoo, I ran into him one Sunday at the Brass Rail. He was there with his wife to watch the race and have a few beers. Turns out he has a house down here. He's as close to a celebrity as they get down here, I think!
