I was a VERY good child. On the few occasions I got out of line, I was spanked. I could probably count on one hand how many times that happened. To this day, my mom raves about how well behaved I was.
I do spank my son when the situation calls for it. I save it for major offenses, though, because he responds well to isolation and revoking of privileges. He is not the same child I was though, and I therefore cannot glean from how my parents raised me to determine how I should raise him.
Spanking children, when necessary, is not going to hurt them or hinder their future.

I was spanked a bunch. 
The worst part was going to get the belt for me. When I was little, I thought getting the smaller one wouldn’t hurt as much and my father would say “that isn’t big enough, go find a bigger one.”
I think I went back and forth looking for a belt about 5 times before I got whacked.

My parents had a leather belt that they didn't hesitate to use. Of course those were different times. I do spank my children when it's needed. I don't BEAT them, and I only use my hand but when they need a good crack they get it. And ya know what...I have good, respectful, never been in any major trouble, teenage girls.
If ya ask me...if more kids got a good spanking when they needed it we wouldn't have so many idiots running around.

If you wanna call a spanking as what I got...well, that was what mom did to me, I only got it from dad when I really messed up..that was the belt, and I even got twig raised..haha... but, I dont regret none of it, it has made me ALOT better person for being whooped when I needed it...

My mom never ever hit me in the face though, never popped me in the mouth or slapped me upside the head. She probably should have though.
I only got my mouth washed out once. That didn't help to clean up my mouth either.
