Squirrels

I have figured out what has been killing all my corn:cussing: Squirrels are climbing up the stalks, bending it over and breaking it, opening an ear of corn and maybe eating about 2 percent of it and leave the rest. Every day I come home from work and I swear it looks like drunk deer are destroying my little plot of corn. I planted about 30-40 if I recall correctly, and now I only have about 10 left... would like to eat at least ONE ear of corn from all the work I put into it. Any suggestions on how to keep them off my corn? They were climing up my pole that holds my bird feeder house.. to stop that habit, I lather on a bunch of peanut oil onto the pole weekly and that seems to do the tric, they slide back down ... can I lather on peanut oil onto corn stalks or would it end up burning the stalk?

And my last question is... seeings how they are wasting the food and I'm big on NOT wasting food, how unsanitary is it to share the corn with the squirrels (providing that I'm boiling it aftewards and cutting off their peice)... Can I catch something from them if I end up having to resort to not being able to get rid of the squirrels? What they arn't killing the storm last week blew over.... I only have about 10 stalks left at this point and have eaten ZERO corn

Hubby drinks after the cat all the time, he hasn't died yet! She is forever sneaking a drink of his tea when he isnt looking. Me personally, that tea and glass would get replaced with a clean one and fresh tea. I don't see anything wrong with cutting the eaten end off and boiling it up. Whatever germs the squirrel may have will die in the boiling water. JMHO! :huggy:

I'm gone (work and commute) too much for that  I asked RiverRat if I could grow a bunch and keep it all inside her house, she said no and refused to budge on that. She too suggested using bb's on them but I don't want to kill them, let alone I don't think my aim is that good - I'd end up shooting up my entire garden :ohwell: I'd end up posting questions asking if I can eat shot up and rotted tomatoes

I raised these from little bitty seeds :tantrum: I watched them grow :tantrum: I transplanted them from the seedling pots, nursed them through shock :tantrum: There's gotta be something I can do  Maybe??? I've seen people put hair in their garden to chase the deer off, do you think that might work for squirrels too?

Laced with cyanide.

:nono: Nothing toxic because when they die the cats will find them and play with them and maybe eat them.

I have 5 cats, and they poo a lot. Maybe you can come get whats out of their litter boxes and spread it around the corn on the ground. There ya go, fertilizer and corn guard! It does work, it makes them think there is a cat nearby. OR adopt an outside cat for your garden!
