I wonder how this will affect my son's field trip today. It was cancelled last month for another pathetic weather day. Why is everyone so scared of this dusting? Heaven forbid it does actually snow around here...

Because if by some chance there was an accident, you'd have every parent suing the school system.

When parents stop suing, school will continue. :)

I think the weather is calling for snow to pick up this afternoon. They are just being precautious.

They're being over cautious. Schools keep a normal schedule during bad thunder storms which are worse than conditions will be this afternoon.

of all the reasons to take off work. This is my favorite.

I would much rather be sitting home playing withe in the dusting than have some Jackazz creme the side of a bus they are riding in.

its a minor inconvience and well worth the price.

Sueing does not bring back your kids :jameo:

I don't know about that. I just got back from lunch and 235 is almost dry. Today might be the most extreame case of closing schools early for no reason that I can remember.

I think i would have to disagree and say that the rain that day was pretty bad to, Ya know the one when the sun came out and everything was gone by 900 am.... lol. I hope it does get bad though at least they are being cautious than not.

I don't know that for a fact. Nobody does. I guess things are just different now than when I was in school.

When I was in school they didn't pay as much attention to weather predictions. It was more on the current conditions outside.

Sometimes the bus would get stuck and the kids would have to stand on the wheel hump to get it out of the snow. I don't ever remember anyone getting hurt and it made for a good story to tell my parents when I got home.

That is because you have the luxury of waiting to see what the weather will actually do before you have to make a decision on whether or not to depart work early. The school board does not have that luxury. They have to make the decision by a specific time in the morning. They have to base the decision on information on hand at the time.

When you were in school, parents didn't try to secure their child's financial future with lawsuits either. Last time there was snow, somebody complained that a bus was sliding around and school was not delayed...now there is complaining that it is delayed. To the parents who complain- you're a parent, there is inconvenience sometimes! Deal with it.

Total waste of time. The roads are bone dry. Bad decision. How many kids will be left outside in the cold because parents could not get home. If it was snowing I would say yes bring them home but, no snow and what we did have is gone. Oh well, hopefully no child will be left alone outside and everyone is safe and warm...
