ST. MARY'S HOSPITAL

Einstein...... your calculations regarding SMECO are off by a factor of MANY times.
2.834% of $459,796,369 would be $13,030,629.
If SMECO CEO's earnings are $616,373 as your post says, then that's not 2.834%, but instead only 0.134053472% (roughly 1/750) of $459,796,369.
I taught calculus back in the day. But, I love your math.

I've noticed a lot of people feeling the same way about St. Mary’s lately. There’s actually a site I found called GP ratings where people leave real reviews about their experiences with different doctors and clinics. Well, waht I think is that having this kind of info out there helps people make better choices and keeps things a bit more transparent in healthcare.

St Mary's hospital just seems to be a band-aid station. Any time something moderate to major needs to be performed, up the road you must go!
That only makes sense though. How expensive do you think it would be to maintain a trauma unit that gets used once or twice a month? Do you want them to keep every kind of specialist on hand, a neurosurgeon for strokes and a cardiac surgeon for heart bypasses? How much would that cost and who gets to pay for it? Or should we empower the GP doctors to dig around in your brain or fiddle with your arteries?

Then it shouldn't be called St Mary's HOSPITAL. It should be called St Mary's Urgent Care Plus :yay:

A good way to address this would be to have all doctors, especially surgeons, trained in all levels of trauma medicine while in doctor school. So at least at every hospital there'd be some level of dealing with traumatic injuries. Since most all hospitals are stocked with everything materially needed, it seems it would be doable.

Just because you don't understand how the medical system works, nearly everywhere in this country, doesn't mean the rest of US need to conform to your ignorance..

So do you think things are the current way because doctors don't want to be good at a lot of different things? Or maybe they don't like the extra money they would make? Truth is, it's HARD to be GOOD at a lot of different things, which is why most doctors specialize.

Do you want a house built entirely by general contractors, no trades? Are you one of those guys that goes to Jiffy Lube to change their brakes?

I was just postulating. Ya know, adding to the conversation? Where there's a will there's a way kinda thing to address things.

Just because you believe you know everything about everything and are unwilling to admit that you may not be as informed as you believe yourself to be doesn't make you an expert on every topic known to humanity.
But since you seem to be the expert on EVERTHING... do enlighten us "know nothings" on how the medical system works everywhere in this country... I'll wait :coffee:

I never claimed to be an expert. I'm pretty sure the only thing I claimed was that you are an ignoramus. But I could see how everyone with a basic understanding of how the world works might seem like an expert to you.

Do you get mad when fourth-graders correct your math as well? "You don't know everything Jimmy what with your high falutin edjumication, tell me Jimmy how does math work EVERYWHERE in this country?".

But be my guest, go to the urgent care instead of the hospital next time you need an MRI or CT scan or need to deliver a baby, have your stomach pumped, get an endoscopy or a hip/knee replacement.

So you are attempting to correct someone's opinion WITHOUT having complete knowledge of the system in question? How very PROGRESSIVE of you. You seem very angry over a local community forum post. Do you beat your pets as well? :killingme

Only a sith deals in absolutes. I can correct obvious idiocy without being an expert. The same way I can tell a small child not to poke themselves in the eye with a stick without being either an expert in eye-health, sticks, or children.

I've been to St Mary's ER, as a companion, many times over the last few yrs. They have mostly been ho-hum, you-coulda-gone-to-urgent-care, and that's exactly the type of care my family members received.

When we went in last week with hubby having a blood clot and blue toes, those people MOVED. Room full of people keeping an eye on him, bypassed pre-op and right to surgery.

I was super impressed.

Then it shouldn't be called St Mary's HOSPITAL. It should be called St Mary's Urgent Care Plus
It is a HOSPITAL, it has in-patient as well as out-patient services and it holds a designations as a Level III Trauma Center. With level III they have demonstrated an ability to provide prompt assessment, resuscitation, surgery, intensive care and stabilization of injured patients and emergency operations. Quite a bit different then a Urgent Care facility.
