St. Mary's Landing What's the Deal?

Gave the restaurant another chance the other day and regretted it. I was greeted by a customer storming out and swearing she waited 30 minutes for service. Still, I decided to give it a shot...and immediately regretted it too. We're seated at a wobbly table under a low water stained ceiling that looked like it was about to fall in. Waitress was nice, but the breakfast was nasty. They definitely need to re-think the breakfast sausage...just plain nasty. Really, I was in the Army for more than a quick minute...and I have to say that food was worse tha Army food! In fact, it made me miss the green eggs we got in the field. So, what am I missing? The parking lot was packed. Is it because they are the only game in town? Is there any reason they won't plow some of those profits back into their operation? Really, both the water stained false ceiling and nasty restroom ensure that I'll drive 20 miles away for breakfast from now on. One last question, is this the same owner that had the Halfway House? I ask because that place seemed much nicer.

Yep. The Hills have really run down the name of St. Mary's Landing.

Some of us remember the prior incarnation of this restaurant.

This place makes me so sad. They manage to even screw up a turkey club sandwich? We really need some local good restaurants in this area (Charlotte Hall/Hughesville) I've gone here several times over the past year and the service is usually terrible (which I could deal with, if the food was decent)...like I said, it just makes me sad. I miss my PA hometowns with super fabulous small family owned restaurants.
Shout out (not advertisement but if your ever in the area, I went there so much I probably paid their kids tuition)

Corner Stable - York's Only Restaurant Specializing in Ribs Since 1986
Tailgaters Grille & Drafthouse in York, PA
Cobblestone's Restaurant & Sports Emporium
Vito's Pizza and Beer - Our Menu

and the last place, the Tuna Strombolli is AMAZING

I know exactly what you mean. I grew up in NJ and miss good diners. It's sad that CH seems to have two missed opportunities for good restaurants (St. Mary's Landing & the Draggin Inn). Both could've been turned into real money makers, if the owners had any culinary talent. I've also been watching the BBQ struggle. Doesn't anyone get it? Geeez! Watch the the Food Channel...go to culinary school...get a clue. I would eat at these places if the food was worth it. So far, we're not even close! Just seems like such a waste for the community.

BTW- how can businesses like these restaurants in CH fail? They are centrally located on a big highway in the middle of a quarter million mostly government workers with steady income, next to a 400-500 commuter car parking lot? Ooooh! The food sucks! Nevermind, I just answered my own question :)

For the base workers, it is too far to travel for lunch. Commuter parking lot - that says it all.

Most of the commuters are going to and from DC from the northern end of the county...thereby proving once again that Pax River is not the center of the universe :) I bet more than a few of those people are hungry for either breakfast or dinner. What do I know though...only been commuting to DC from Golden Beach for twenty years. LOL!

For me, during the morning and afternoon commute, I don't tend to stop somewhere along the way. I much rather prefer get to my destination and then choose and stop. That place would not be of my choosing, either way.

Have you tried therapy for this disorder? I usually just stop any place where the food is good when I'm hungry and eat. Delaying gratification can be good, but like all things...moderation.

Their food sucks, so no, I won't stop. Fiesta, yes, I'll stop if I am in the mood for Mexican food.
