St. Mary's Landing What's the Deal?

Not really. SML was terrible. Still despite that, the parking lot was full. Either they know something we don't or even failures are succeeding in this area. Just a thought...

They failed at cooking good food, not keeping busy. As was said people settle, especially out in BFE where there is little choice.

Do they still have the slot machines? I have heard that when they had them and keno, lottery that the place would be packed. I have never been there but I think I remember it being a rib place ten years or more ago.

Or a lot of people settle for mediocrity. :ohwell:

Exactly! If nothing else, it proves there is a strong market. I retire in 5 years. If somebody doesn't figure it out...how does a great sandwich and breakfast cafe sound? Not Wawa junk, I'm talking hoagies, cheesesteaks, and light pastas with a Cajun twist? Oh yeah! Crepes, Belgian waffles, gourmet pancakes, omelets with great cup of coffee each morning.

As always it sounds great but let's see a business plan that shows how rent, taxes, wages, and supplies will be paid for.

That sounds great. Myself, personally, I don't eat all of that stuff. I'm sure it would be a big hit with a lot of other folks. :yay:

And the rep attached to the name "Hill." :ohwell:

Earl's Steakhouse if I remember correctly and it's been a bunch of years.

Earl's was in the building that is now Heavy Hitters. They were good and then it was Henson's, which was good too. St. Mary's Landing was excellent back in the 80s. I have no clue who owned it then.

Don't you think that's kinda sad? After a long hard work week, people just settle and spend their hard earned money on crappy food? I know that no one wants to hear this...and I don't advocate anything inappropriate here...but it is fair to say that in my old NJ neighborhood...people never let that happen. Maybe, the one time I saw a guy punch out a guy for making a bad hoagie was a bit of an overreaction, but there is also such a thing as under reaction. I'm merely suggesting that consumers press their government to attract better businesses and use their monetary leverage to punish businesses. People work hard for their money and they deserve more than bad service, bad food, nasty dining spaces, and filthy restrooms.

Actually, the letters "MBA" after my name imply that I have the academic and real world credential to do exactly that. Let's not forget the supply chain, total costing, loading, demand balance, COOP, do I need to go on? Soooo, "Yes, Sparky I can do that." No problem. I'm available for tutoring if you need it.:yahoo:

For me, during the morning and afternoon commute, I don't tend to stop somewhere along the way. I much rather prefer get to my destination and then choose and stop. That place would not be of my choosing, either way.

I would totally agree where you here. But I happen to live in this area (carriage crossing). I work mostly in PG county and husband works in DC all day every day and we would love to find a place we could have a nice easy dinning exp

I have the same letters after mine as well as a few others. We can meet any time and I can do the tutoring since your posts imply you don't understand the economics of this area.

Years ago, SML was Steve Doolan's Steak House, Then it was Frank Abells, then it was St. Mary's Landing, then the House of Ribs.

Exactly and a restaurant is not like a store or other types of business.
Right. Businesses are unique. While the MBA certainly gives you the "business" aspect of it, you still have to know the market, what people want, what they're willing to pay and how to market your business. Not to mention the other common sense things that are unique to each business.
