State doubles unemployment insurance tax

I should have realized that you were complaining about the Governor's other "socialist" programs in a thread about an unemployment tax increases and in direct response to a post about why this particular tax increase seemed to make sense. Silly me.

Also keep in mind that this is a double edge sword... You raise the unemployment taxes on "small" businesses and they lay people off or close their doors and the state pays more unemployment claims...

Where will we get the money for that?

Since the unemployment tax goes directly to pay for unemployment insurance not into the general fund. Of course if you don't believe the reports that are available that show how the fund works, how much the tax brings in and how much is paid out, its not worth trying to argue with you.

Less is being paid out now that in 2004 but I never saw a reduction in the rate.... What happened to what should have been extra funds in 2005 through 2007?

Yeah, I know it's a tough time to raise any tax, but if takes an extra $25.50 a year per worker to keep the unemployment fund solvent, it makes sense.

So why don't you pony up the $26 bucks ... its only a case of beer ... 2 cases it your into cheap stuff ...

Actually I have resorted to Unemployment several times in the last 20 yrs ... getting laid off after 9/11 .... then again in 02 when the minority owned small business laid me off ...

and I lived on the County Dole in most of 07 drawing Full Medical and Food Stamps ... but like a productive member of Society .... I got back on my feet and starting contributing again ... unlike the leaches who never get off the Bus ...
