State Farm

A little upset about being charged to change my policy. They friggin' charge your more money just so they can charge you more money. They sat there and explained all of the charges and what they cover but didn't mention a thing about this. So, it's needless to say I was a little stunned when I went online to pay my bill and saw it was nearly $450. :faint:

And the fact that they consider it a sports car is just ridiculous. Apparently, having a 2-door coupe with a rear wing automatically justifies it being a sports car.

But, if they call it a sports car, so will I.

Check out Progressive. My daughter bought a new Accord and State Farm was going to charge her 499.00 a month (more than the dang car payment). She called Progressive and she got full coverage for 189.00 a month and she is under 21......

I have had State Farm for 30 years but I switched to Progressive also after the deal that my daughter got.......it's much much CHEAPER!!!!!!!!

You've never even had a glass claim? A tow? Nobody hit you? A branch never fell on your car?

40 years without a claim? I don't believe you.

No, No, No and NO. And I don't care what you're accident prone ass believes.

People like us in the area play the biggest role in keeping your and cry baby Andy's insurance premiums low.

Premiums are based on the amount of claims in a regional area.

You need to do a better job at keeping my rates low. Quite frankly, you suck. The really bad kind of suck.

Do you have insurance beyond the bare minimum required by law? Why? Aren't you just throwing your money away, since you're perfect?

...and thank you for helping to keep my State Farm Mutaul dividends coming. The fewer claims is this region, the bigger the dividends.

I liked State Farm. They pay off with no arguments. However I do have two complaints with them and therefore am with another company now. When we moved to Maryland from Missouri we paid our insurance and was told to go to the local office when we get here and switch. Well we went to the local office and paid the insurance. We then got that money back in the mail about a week later saying our insurance was canceled. Well we decided to go back and have it re instated since they are such a good company. Then after my husband had his accident we went and paid the insurance. We were told it was one amount, paid that amount to them and when I paid was told I was overpaying them. Then I get my check back in the mail saying once again they have canceled my insurance. About a month after them canceling it I received a letter stating that if I dropped my husband from the insurance they would gladly accept me back.

They did not pay with no arguments for us, they nickel and dimed us and almost killed my hubby by refusing to replace the axle. They only agreed to a "refurbished" axle that promptly broke while my husband was on a business trip somewhere in BFE going 55mph surrounded by truckers! However, once I "threatened" them with "possible" litigation after conferring with my attorney based on the fact that they COULD have KILLED my HUSBAND, they replaced the axle with a NEW one like they should have in the first place, the car was brand new when he had the accident! State Farm payed out when my husband totalled our truck but.......the local office called me when the premium was due and told me that I needed to pay the bill or the insurance would be cancelled......DUH!!!! YOU SENT ME A CHECK FOR THE TRUCK SINCE IT WAS TOTALLED AND NOW YOU WANT A PAYMENT??????........

6 months after the accident they sent me a letter stating that since I WRECKED THE TRUCK I WAS NO LONGER ALLOWED TO DRIVE IT.....DUH HUBBY WAS DRIVING AND WAS STILL IN THE HOSPITAL AND THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLED..........

And when I went to get new insurance, the new company tells me that there is an accident on my record..........IT WAS HUBBY'S ACCIDENT.....

So basically State Farm has screwed me......

Wish me luck on getting this cleared up with the MVA..............

I can believe that. When hubby had the accident we took it to the body shop and they said they checked everything and that everything was fine. Well I guess the body shop we took it to does not cover mechanical things just the body work. I am not sure if this is how it is with all the body shops or not since I have never had to deal with them myself. Anyways after we got the car back we could tell something in the front end was still messed up as well as the fact that our horn does not blow very well now. We were told by the body shop that that was not their problem we have to take it to another company because they do not deal with those things. The lady that came out to inspect the car and make sure they did everything they were charged for told us we could not take it somewhere else that we would have to take it back to the body shop to have it fixed. Thats just awful that your husband could have been killed because they were to cheap to pay to fix the thing.

LOL. Yep thats how it was with hubby. Only they actually canceled mine then about a month later told me they would take me back if I would take him off the insurance. Why would I do that????? How did State Farm get the accident put on your record though? I thought that happens by the police or something.

You're always blowing a gasket on here.

You tell me and we will both know. I have called State Farm and they can't do anything, so now I have to deal with the MVA which should be interesting. Like they are going to believe me. The truck was mine but he was driving and had a fender bender in Feb 04, he totalled it in July 04. The fender bender is on my record and I had no idea until I changed insurance companies last week......the new insurance company says just call the MVA, but I have a feeling that isn't going to be that easy.......

Having to deal with the MVA wont be easy. Did they write him a ticket for the fender bender? If so they should be able to look that up and see he was the one driving but I dont know. That is just plain stupid.

No cops, just a fender bender at a light....they exchanged insurance info. So I have nothing.

Was the policy issued in both of your names? If so your driving record will show that the policy in force was in your name but the driver at the time of the accident was your husband. Also if it was paid out from your policy then it will show up... however it will not show as a "chargeable" accident :yay:

If I remember correctly, State Farm was one of th einsurance companies called out on Dateline after Katrina. While other companies awarded >90% of their claims from the hurricane, State Farm was something like 15%. They showed one neighborhood on a 'sandtable', one company paid 100% of the claims (I wish I could remember that companies name) from that neighborhood, another company paid about 70%, one around 50%, State Farm paid <10%

My truck, my policy with him as a part time user. No tickets at the scene, they just exchanged insurance info and that accident is listed against my drivers license. At the time of that accident I was in Bethesda, Maryland and hubby called me to tell me what had happened.........

State Farm has not a clue and thier records do not go back to 2004 for that truck. New insurance company says just call the MVA and they will fix the mistake....yeah right. I have not called them yet....I work when they are open and I have a feeling that this is going to be a long conversation.

This is interesting. As what lovingmaryland said is interesting also. My husband had a fender bender on the interstate back in 2004. The cops came but since the cars were drivable and no one needed to go to the hospital the cop did not write him a ticket. Although it was my husbands fault and State Farm paid to have the guys truck fixed it never showed on my husbands driving record.
