He is reportly gay, which I consider a social sickness. :flowers:
Without getting into a topic which has been discussed to death on this forum...

I don't feel this is relevant. There are some real sickos that can claim to be heterosexual and some really nice people who don't.

But in the course of researching my current issue of concern in the General Assembly, I discovered that Dyson doesn't claim any other job besides politician. He never has had any other job. He is in Annapolis for three months and occasionally lectures the remaining 9. I can't imagine being more out of touch with the real world.

OK... Republican talking about Democrat here.

I have had occassion to discuss a number of issues with the Senator. He usually takes a conservative stand on most issues.

I like the guy. I like the job he's done on most issues [that I have taken an interest in] over the years. :coffee:

A State Senator is a payed position but not very much

How much do they get annually in various kick-backs?

If that makes up for the official salary deficiency, I'll check it out.

So does this mean you are supporting the Senator over his challenger in the election?

What level do you want to enter at. From your postings, I considered you one of the few McKay supporters. :smack: If not there are several organizations to get involved with. Check www.smcgop.com to get started.

Thanks for the website link to the local GOP. As far as being one of the "few" McKay supporters, I guess the election will tell us how many supporters there are for any candidate. Unfortunately, I see a Democratic sweep of the commissioners seats as a real possbility, but could prove interesting
Thanks again

The fact that he is not popular in his own party sounds good to me. George Bush isn't too popular with that crowd also.
Isn't he part owner of Dyson Lumber Co?

I agree that he has a good line, however you need to watch his votes. He says he supports business interest but his vote as recorded in Rollcall is very low, less than 25% on business issues. :coffee: I would suggest you check his record on matters that interest you. I would also suggest to you that I will take care of my own and the government needs to stay the hell out. :war:

I am not aware of any kick backs, but he spends very little on his campaign. I would be interest if you find anything interesting. Might start with what he does down in Florida during the off season. :elaine:

The newbies better get started soon. Fundraisers for the current lot have already started and they have sign up to do it again. Currently there are no new people signed up except for the open Commissioner President position. :coffee:

His family owns it and I believe his sister actually runs the business :howdy:

Elfreda Mathis is running against Dement. The Brass Rail voting bloc will secure it for ol Kenny again.

I don't like McKay much either. He seems like got his his political philosophy from a book titled "How to Become a Conservative in 12 Easy Steps."

When it comes to cutting taxes, McKay seems to be a talker and not a doer. From my perspective, he comes up with wild proposals for tax cuts that have no chance of getting any support from the other commissioners, just to make himself look good. It makes for good campaigning but for lousy governing, since taxes still don't get cut. (Exhibit A is my new property assessment, Exhibit B is the resulting property tax bill.)

In my view, if McKay really wanted to cut taxes, he would propose more realistic plans and make some attempts to negotiate with his fellow commissioners. Instead, he portrays himself as the lone voice of sanity in a world gone mad.

I'm not sure what would be a sensible proposal for cutting taxes. One idea might be instituting a deduction of, say, $50,000 of the assessed value of an owner-occupied home before calculating the property taxes.

You have half the picture. ol kenny is running as a Republican because he could not win as a democrate. The combination of lazy Republicans and the Brass Rail bloc will make it hard for a Democrate to win. However if a Good Republican step up, ol kenny would not make in the primary. Word is McKay is looking hard!! :elaine:

Again - WOW- Nice to see someone else has the real picture!! :howdy:

I've never been to the Brass Rail. How would you describe that voting bloc? I would assume you're referring to longtime county families who are conservative Democrats.

Curious why you say that. Last time I checked the numbers (which admittedly has been a couple of years ago), registered Democrats out-numbered Republicans by a respectable margin.

He's talking about the softball crowd. Kenny is/was Mr. Softball in St. Mary's and the joke was that he could never run for office because you can't mix politics with religion  The Rail is a big softball hangout.

Vrai the difference in registration is about 1300 so the gap has closed considerably
