Stevia SUCKS

Today I hear, "You should try this." "You use TOO MUCH sugar."
So, I use three packets of this stuff in the coffee this morning.
This is coffee you cannot see through, mind you.
Stevia didn't touch it. The coffee tasted like nothing was in it.

At least it's not real refined sugar so use more of it. I use it every morning in my smoothie and 1 or 2 packets make a difference...

I bowl overhand
I like Splenda..

Coffee and Iced Tea both taste great..and the tea doesn't taste like I'm drinking candy, it tastes like lightly sweetened tea.

From what I understand, the product varies greatly depending on which brand you choose.

I'm still working my way through some, too, and also do not love it. I'm a pretty hard core sucralose fan, though, so I'll try the other stuffs that emerge but don't really anticipate changing anything.

Try the stevia in the raw (green box). I used to need several sugars and creamer in a starbucks grande coffee. Now I can use 2 packs of stevia and no creamer.

That stuff is synthetic sugar. I believe Truvia is the only "real" sugar substitute that's not loaded with junk.

Sugar used to be advertized as having 16 calories/tsp.
To the real health nuts, that's "fat calories." Like there are "good" calories.
My use of sugar has also prompted those who know how much I like to use, to say things like 'you're gonna wind up diabetic; if you're not already.'
One of the things that also prompts such comments is, shirts I've had for a while are just a liiiittle more snug these days.

The process they use to convert it from stevia "tea" to rebiana is top secret, it's manufactured by Cargill and Coca Cola, and Truvia contains erythritol (sugar alchohol) and "natural flavoring" so....

It's just like all the other artificial sweeteners: no better, no worse, and merely a matter of personal preference.

I guess I'm just too used to sugar; every artificial sweetener is just that to me; artificial. I tried Sweet-N-Low a long time ago; and everything since then, tastes as artificial as that stuff.

I HATE the pink stuff and the blue stuff. Have you tried Splenda? I honestly cannot tell the difference.

Well, I'm speaking in general. I have a BS in nutrition and food science - not because I want to tell anyone what they should be eating but because I am fascinated with the breakdown of food and how the body uses it. And what really fascinates me is what drives people to seek out and consume specific foods.

Salt and sugar are learned tastes, btw, so once they are acquired, they are extremely difficult habits to break, which is partly why some struggle with it more than others. 15 kCals per tsp isn't a big deal except when it's multiplied into large amounts and consumed often. Artificial sweeteners can help people break the cycle of consuming too much sugar.
