Stupid Motorcyclist

I was in Oklahoma this summer and went through a click it or ticket check point. Ironic thing was, the guy behind me on the motorcycle was not required to have a helmet. The attending officer and I noted that and he sent me on my merry way.
Buckle up, but buckets not required????? Oh well.

You can do it in your auto. You just have to decide tha the thrill is worth more than any penalty you might incure.
A teenager doesn't have a lot to lose.

Like I said before, there is no helmet law here in FL. I just think it's a very very very bad idea to have a 5 year old child on the back of your bike with NO HELMET on. These bikers with kids on the back of their bike are riding down roads that are 65mph here. If the adult doesn't want to wear one, then that is his choice. But the a child on the other hand...

:spank:

Don't think it's legal for the kids. Just looked it up on the AMA website.
FL: Not required over 21 with a minimum of $10,000 in medical insurance, and eye protection is required.
Next time you see some 5yr old on a bike without a helmet call 911.

Thanks for the info. Will do so. Speaking of motorcycles...I think Biketoberfest is coming up soon here. I have been to Biketoberfest and Bike Week. Pretty darn interesting. It's awesome to see all the different kind of "bikes."

Stupid Motorcyclist, But isn't that redundant.

My basic physics tells me you're more likely to injure the innocent driving a 6,000 lb SUV while yacking on a cell phone than some kid on a 500 lb motorcycle.

eye protection is required.

FL is pretty aggressive at enforcing this law...I've heard of many bikers getting pulled over for no eye protection. I think it goes back to the Hurt Report where it indicates foreign objects in the eye are a significant factor in accidents.

I think if people want to forgo safety devices like helmets, or seat belts they should. However, insurance companies should then be able to deny claims unless notified in advance of this fact and being allowed to charge higher premiums to offset the higher risk.

If I can't do it in my auto, then why should they THINK they can?
They are breaking the law and, if caught, face stiff penalties. Just like a car driver would for excessive show of speed. I have cars, trucks, SUVs pass me all the time while riding as if I were standing still. Some get tickets, most don't.
