Oops! False Alarm. Everything is a crisis these days. I pray for saner times in my lifetime.

Additional testing and evaluation of the suspected measles case currently under investigation by the St. Mary’s County Health Department has found that the individual in question does not have measles.

This should never had been reported by our local "media" websites until the test results were completed. First the article says it was confirmed as measles then an update saying it had not been confirmed yet with lines thru the original article. Good "journalism" there :sarcasm: Then it was picked up by WUSA Channel 9.

Maybe not, but the Health Department made the first public report so I would think they're more to blame.

I didn't realize that. I should have read it more thoroughly. I was mainly referring to that cluster smdnewsnet posted. Just ignore my comment :whack:

I cant think of one good reason not to get your kids vaccinated. It just makes sense. If you can prevent the spread of diseases like the measles, polio, chicken pox, why wouldn't you? I remember, as a kid, I had to have my inoculations before registering for school, my daughters were the same way, had to prove they had received the required shots before registering, has that changed?

you can sign a waiver for public schools stating it's "against your religion". Otherwise it's still required.

As someone who had polio, measles, mumps, chicken pox, German measles and whooping cough as an infant and child, would rather the vaccines had been universally available.

Wow. So happy you are with us. You are a very interesting, caring, and delightful person. :huggy: Do you get sick much, now, with flu, colds, pneumonia, etc.? I do have to say that dot and her hub have opted out of immunizations for their children. In the research I have done, I agree with them. I am feeling guilty, now, that I exposed my children to poison. Why does my dot have MS? You are living proof, spr, that they are not necessary. And, you experienced cancer, and I am so glad you made it through that. You survived the childhood diseases. Would you have really wanted the vaxes? Why do they vax animals that we, ultimately, eat? Hub and I gave up the flu shot over 12 years ago, and the pneumonia, shiingles, etc. We get the, occasional, cold from 3 year old Emmy that is already in preschool, brings it home, and makes the family rounds. We are getting immunized while babysitting. Emmy is in preschool at three years old. Best immunizations, ever. Yes, she brings home germs, and we get the sneezes, and achies, but we are ok. It is better than getting germs at the doc office.

And, I could go into the whole thing about my dot being diagnosed with MS. The doc that diagnosed her is now under fed investigation, and facing having her doc license pulled. Big pharma, y’all. Dot goes to a holistic
/chiropractor doc, now, and is feeling much better. If anyone is interested, it is https://www.olneychiropractor.com/

Wow, you had them all. You're very fortunate. I knew a man years ago who was paralyzed from polio and spent his life in a wheelchair and nursing facilities. My cousin's husband's little brother died from the measles back in the 40s. My cousin had the measles and her fever was so high she went into seizures. They believe this was the cause of her epilipsy. I do remember as a kid hearing the adults talking about the horror stories and being so afraid and worried when anyone had one of these. I do remember having the measles and how sick I was. I think I was around 6 or 7. Some doctors still made house calls then and I remember him coming to the house because my fever wouldn't go down. All they had back then was aspirin which doesn't sound like it was very effective in lowering fevers.

I'm sure all of us born in the 50s and 60s have this vaccine circle/mark on our upper arm. I can't remember what it was for? Anyone remember?

Smallpox. There is so much more I could say, but, I won’t. Nite, y’all.

I thought for sure this thread would turn toward anti-vaxers or illegal immigrants by now.

Well, as it turns out, this is not measles. But concerning illegals that come across the borders without being checked for what they are bringing in, if they've been vaccinated, or if they can get vaccinated, this is the population that is most at risk for getting these diseases. A strong reason to have control of our border. It's not just security, it really is a humanitarian issue.
