Synthetic Oil Change

Walmart will do synthetic oil changes. I've gone to them a few times for my BMW. You're lucky the cost is only $70 -- mine average $130. I don't put a lot of miles on my vehicle these days so I can stretch the cost out.

Anyhow, I'm surprised your Honda takes synthetic. My sister has an Accord and I've never heard her mention it needing synthetic oil.

I specifially stopped at WalMart couple weeks ago looking for an oil change and when I said I need 0W20, the guy said we don't do synthetic oil changes. WTF. I didn't question it at the time, but I was wondering later on...if they sell 0W20 (even if it's in limited quantities) why wouldn't they change that oil? Maybe I need to stop in and talk with a manager. I'm pretty sceptical about WalMart right now though. My friend had his oil "changed" there last week and they didn't put any oil in it after they drained it. Forgot to check on his way out and his engine blew up by the time he got to Lex Park. He's currently fighting with WalMart over his new engine :ohwell:

Anyways, synthetic isn't required in my 2011 Honda. But when I initially bought the car and read through the manual, etc., I was reading about how the 0W20 synthetic is strongly recommended now for my particular engine. I'm trying to find a reputable article about how it's a new type of engine....but now of course I can't for the life of me. And I don't have patience to re-read the owner's manual right now  I understand the differences between synthetic and non- or blend-synthetic and through my own research and reviews about my particular year, make, and model, I've decided to keep with the synthetic. The fact that I put over 500 miles a week on it is reason #1.

I was just hoping there might be a locally owned shop that'd charge a few less than $60-70 :ohwell:
...at least until I move and hopefully have a set-up where I can just do it myself.

I wont vouch for them anymore, after my issue with them and my request using an impact on my adapters. Then I go to get new tires on the Jetta and they do not do custom wheels. Went to southern tire and the price was only a few dollars more, and i didn't get any BS from the guys in the shop. They have been more of a PITA to deal with.

As for synthetic, neither of my vehicles specifically call for it, but seeing as I drive less than 10 miles to and from work each day, I do not do oil changes but maybe once a year. It costs me about $90 to do it myself.

I have read similar stories online ..

.... but seriously it is called an OIL Pressure gauge or there is an IN10T Light on the dash
- dude your engine lacks oil pressure

not to mention the clattering of the cam followers ..

you should not make it out of the parking space, even if the moron changing the oil ignores the signs

sorry for your friends troubles .

.. no maintenance parts - ball joints etc .
.. and automatic transmissions have made retards out of 75% of the drivers
.. no learns to drive or maintain ... just get in and go ...
.. I have employees at work that cannot start a John Deer Gator - because it has a Carb, and a manual choke

I have replaced the "Serviced for life" parts in my Chargers suspension with Moog replacements with grease fittings.

I called it an ID10T light just to pi** my Brother off. I also found a 710 cap that I needed to replace.
