Tee Ball Parents

No Longer the Kid
Anyone know of any batting cages around here that may have tees? I miss Swing-N-Swat. The county needs another one. :frown:

Honestly, get him a cheap pair of cleats like everyone is saying, not so much for the 'want to feel like a real ball player', but so he can get used to wearing them if he continues to want to play the sport.

Cleats are a lot different than regular shoes, the feel of them, the slip resistance (though in that small size, they offer very little), but it is still the point they feel different, and bend different than regular shoes...

As for getting a tee, walmart carries those also, I'm not sure of the price, but I wouldn't go overboard, as being tee ball games are basically the same exact things as his practice will be, they basically just work on eye hand coordination, and learn to run to first base instead of third

It will be fun though, and take a camera, you will def. get some of those moments of pure :roflmao: out of all the kids...

I was given some coupons for sports authority when I signed my boy up, I played T ball here growing up, and played baseball all the way through college and wore cleats every year. I am getting them for my son.

BTW, I can't speak for all the leagues of course, but our practices were suppose to start last night and were cancelled due to the weather.

Depending on the shoe size, you might have to search for cleats. I had to buy my youngest some for soccer this year, size 13. I looked at Target (had girl's, not boys. I would consider pink to be girls), Wal-Mart didn't have the right size and Payless had Size 1 (which I ended up getting). We had a pair of sz 1 1/2 from when my oldest was little but they were too big for the youngest and I was afraid he'd try to kick the ball and his shoe would go flying.

Watching the oldest play t-ball was funny. Some kids would have to take about 20 swings at the ball to actually hit it. My youngest didn't want to play t-ball this year. He wanted to play soccer like his brother does. I'm kind of disappointed because he'd probably be one of those kids that has to take numerous swings to finally hit it. That would have been funny to watch. My oldest is just a natural at sports and would send the ball flying, even at 5 yrs old. My youngest, well, let's just say that he's a kid unto himself in most cases.

My kids didn't have cleats while they played tball. They really don't need them.

When my son was small though, Walmart sold these little Rawlings sneakers that had a baseball stitched on the sides of them. He got a pair of those just for t-ball. :memories:

I always bought them for my kids... just because they would ruin their regular shoes..

What size do you need? I might have a pair laying around here from one of mine.
He is in an 11 1/2 now so I guess a 12.

We bought him a cheapie $10 tee for his 3rd birthday. Only took him 3 swings before he broke the tee. Bought him a $45 and it only took him a few swings before he was able to hit the ball w/out hitting the tee. Little dude knocked it out of the park. It went 150' into the neighbors yard.

Wonder if your kid is on my kid's team. :eyebrow:

No cleats required, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to have them start getting used to wearing them. They'll outgrow them just about every year.

What are the ages for T-Ball??

I think our little bubba would LOVE it, but he's only 3..

It's NEVER too late to register..

but, you're kind of right about next year.. though he won't be 4 until Jan 3rd..

You'll be fine for next year, like I said mine is not even 4 yet and he is playing this year.
