Morbid title and story.

I wonder how many kids that age from that town drive that car. I sure hope their parents don't read this article before being notified. Anything for a scoop, I guess.

That was information that he got directly from a press release from the CCSO (minus the headline). Here's The BayNet's version: UPDATE: Fatal Accident Knocks Out Utility Pole in Pisgah - Southern Maryland News, Charles County, Calvert County and St. Mary's County News

OMG...I can't imagine how the family will feel...Four years ago, my son wrapped his Eclipse (that I pleaded with his dad not to buy him) around a telephone pole...the only place untouched was the driver's seat and there was no fire...he was in hospital for days with serious injuries...we were lucky...In fact, my son's car was used in the annual Calvert/Trooper/Sheriff exhibit to warn teens of what can happen when driving a car...my prayers to the family, but that won't help them...OMG...I am so sad...my heart aches for them.

That is what I would expect. But, still.

It's always tough to see child's death. The only reason that it was initially put up on TBN around 4pm was because the pole was down and the power was out. But the press release came in later this evening.

Just an FYI though, those press releases are not sent out until after the next of kin has been notified.
Then why would smnewsnet make a point of saying that the kid's name wasn't released because their kin hadn't been notified?

"People speed down our road at 70mph," Shannon Czesak, resident in the Pisgah area for over a year, said. "This is the third major accident in front of my house in a year. I thought the neighbors were having a fire, I didn't notice until I heard the sirens."

This bit bothers me. Unless the police of some other source indicates that this was related to speeding, WTH include this quote. If he rear ended another vehicle doing 70, chances are that he wouldn't have been able to walk away.

Heres the place in question, about as flat and straight as a road gets.

The byline is Andy Marquis. He included it because he thinks he's a reporter with a scoop that will win him a pulitzer so he can finally move out of his mommy's basement.

Sure is! But the title sure got us to read the article which I guess is what matters to the media.

I wish this boy hadn't walked back to his vehicle, he may still be alive now if he hadn't. Glad the people in the truck weren't injured, although they'll relive that day forever no doubt. My thoughts are with this boy's family. :bawl:

Horrible accident. This is the 2nd fatality in that area that I know of in the last few years.

I have friends who live near the end of that section of road. Evenings & weekends is when you will see people booking it thru there. If cops ran radar on that section of road weekly, they'd pay for their retirement in no time.

The problem with the cops is there is no "safe" place to pull people over past the road going to the old landfill. This was told to me multiple times when I asked the police to sit in my road to slow people down. We just got our new telephone pole 2 days ago. It gets replaced at least once a year from speeders loosing it.

I understand, but did this crash have anything to do with speeding? My point was that bringing attention to speeding in relation to this might be taking attention off the real reason.
