And the information, at the time, included nothing about a second car... just that someone had crashed in to a utility pole.
A 17 year-old dying in such a fashion is tragic and I hoped that this was not fatal.

I dig your point. I have no idea if speed was a factor in this particular wreck or not. I certainly hope not.
Regardless, people will slow down on 425 for a little while. Then it will be back to the same-ol same-ol in a week or so.

Hmmm, the driver that was in the truck posted a response (at least I guess its him from reading there was only one truck) which said something like what was reported did not happen that way, but he did not say what happend. I wonder what he meant by that? He posted in smnews.net "I was there and he hit my truck and first of all he didnt go back to his car like that….but i am truly sorry for everything. I wish i could of prevent it, i just hope his freinds and family can pull through. R.I.P"

Exactly, because we don't train them. That is my point. Almost every one could do it, were they trained and used some logic about task management. Exactly how much attention you have, and apportion to the tasks as needed. Driving down the beltway at 0700 Sunday morning, not a whole lot going on, you have plenty of attnetion to what is going on enough to cover any possible threat vector and still hold a conversation. Change that to 0830 Monday, your conversation will be very broken up as there is so much more going on around you. That's why cockpits are very chatty places at 35,000 feet, not so much during landing and approach.

Wanna be "reporters". I saw pictures of my daughter's garage fire online (not mentioning the site) before she had a chance to CALL ME. I saw it was her backyard in the pictures and went into a absolute panic. I saw the pictures the next morning and she didn't want to call me at 2:00 am to tell me about her garage fire (when it happened).
Question: How can this person come onto private property and take photos without the permission of the homeowner?

Do you know the photographer was on her property? Just asking because with the cameras and lens available you can be quite a distance away and the pictures look like you were right on top of the subject.
Wow, I can only imagine your disbelief when you first saw those pics. You must've done a few double takes until you were sure it was your daughter's property. I hope nobody was hurt.
I'll say that I'm glad I'll never have to find out bad news about family members through the media because we have no family in the area.
But what if they make national news?
True, that's always a possibility. But something like a barn/garage/house fire probably won't make national news. In fact, I've never lived anywhere besides somd that would consider a residential fire newsworthy unless a crime was committed. Or a minor auto accident. Or Emu's on the loose. Or people driving drunk on their lawn tractors down the road. Or lots of things that the local news covers around here. 
But I do love it here, been here 4.5 years......I'm not knocking the area, I'm just sayin.
