My wife and I are considering Tennessee as our retirement destination in 5 - 10 years (whenever she's decided she's done).
I loved Memphis (Millington) when I was there. School wasn't nearly long enough.
Worst duty station of my 24 year career. Open bay berthing in a WW-II dump barracks, hot, humid, and devoid of anything remotely enjoyable within miles. Did AFUN "P", AT "A", and AFTA schools there. 1.25 years of misery and despair. Thankfully when it ended I got to go to on an all expense paid cruise around the Med.

Mt. Juliet; about 20 min. from Nashville. Reminds me of "LP City" in a lot of ways.

One of my grandfathers went through Parris Is in 1928 when he enlisted and again in 42 when he was drafted.
From what pictures are around, it was a tough place just to live at then. I bet the skeeters were ****ing brutal.
I was a black shoe on a brown shoe base, months of per diem and no duty.

TN is a likely place where we will retire in a few years....searching for land in TN right now to build our "off grid" solar & wind powered home on 5-10 acres. Need plenty of trees to feed our wood stove...

Well, I'll have to contribute to the paying of the bills, so a job is in my near future. ANYTHING that does NOT involve heights OR climbing. H*ll, I can mop floors for all I care.
