Thanksgiving Recipe

I don't eat them. My husband loves them bit I wanted to try something new. His favorite is when I sauté them with garlic and butter till crispy
Then saute them in olive oil. Sprinkle in some salt and balsmaic vinegar. Add in some sliced almonds and serve. Fancy.

Cream peas has become a tradition for thanksgiving too.

Hmmm. I don't eat peas, nor cook them, but I bet my husband would like that. Are they "creamed" or "creamy"?

Heat up milk and mix in some flour to thicken it up, drain the peas and add to the flour/milk mix. Add sugar and warm for about 10 minutes. I dont have any measurements other than I start with a cup of milk and go from there. I add flour till I get thickness my faimily likes and sugar I start with about a tablespoon and taste test.

Well I won't be taste testing :shudder: But I get the idea. Thanks!

Anyone have a cranberry dressing (not jellied) they like? looking for a low carb version that could be served chilled, but could also be used as a stuffing.

Cooking advice: Know your ingredients.

Relative attempted to make her first pie last Thanksgiving... she didn't know what CREAM OF TARTAR was so she substituted TARTAR SAUCE.

Her mother was the pie sampler and just about :died:

OH and Honey Baked Ham, has anyone ever had it? My husband won't touch ham, but I like it if it's got a nice crispy brown sugar coating, I was considering ordering a small one if they're any good? :buddies:

We buy the small 3 or 4 lb hams from the store that come with the brown sugar packet inside. The are easy to cook and they taste good. :yum:

I do that with fresh Brussel sprouts, but just toss the crumbled bacon in with them. Cut them in half first.

I'll be making dinner for the parental units this year. I'm thinking of Cornish game hens split and grilled outside. Mom was recently diagnosed with extreme diabetes, so have to come up with alternatives to rice/taters/starches... That means no traditional string bean casserole either... mushroom soup is nothing but carbs...
