My take......

Danica = Much better than most track trash that has been racing for years. She won't finish last like most of them do race after race. Yea she's a girl and can out race any of you armchair pro's!

No hate, just very unlikely that she will finish. Big difference between qualifying with no one else on the track, no distractions, and racing all out in a pack of wolves who will bump you off the track at the first opportunity. I suspect she won't make it past halfway, even if everyone is nice to her.

But she still made it! And she gets to be in the Daytona 500. Lots of guys make it and don't finish either.

Usually the ones who makes the race only to run three or four laps then park it. Also the ones who cause wrecks because they can't drive. These are the ones who have someone drive them to the race because they would crash that car to. Think of it this way. These are drivers, and I use that term loosley, that have more DNF's than finishs. They also reside around 40th and below in points.

I am not a Nascar follower, although I spent 8 years in FL about 2 hrs north of Daytona, and did catch more than a few races and Daytona 500's since Thing1 became a big fan.

Why all the hate for someone who obviously did qualify? So what if she doesn't win the race - she did qualify to race, right?

Also, didn't she used to race Formula 1 cars?

It's not Danica hate. Trust me, you haven't seen Danica hate until you see the way people have been trashing her on Facebook and Twitter.

It's unlikely Danica will finish because she has a less than stellar record of finishing races at Daytona. She used to run IndyCar and scored one victory - in Japan, on fuel mileage, with half the field competing in another race.
