The best place to retire in Maryland is...

Love their selling points...

"Maryland's cost of living is 24.6% above the national average. And it's far more affordable than the District, where living costs are 73.9% above the national average."

" And in the rest of St. Mary's County, early retirees can explore and enjoy more than 500 miles of shoreline on the Patuxent and Potomac Rivers and the Chesapeake Bay."[\i]

In the "Things to do" section, they forgot to mention the Walmart "Find the Wee Wee" experience, the "Dodge the Begging Bums in the Parking Lot of the Wawa" game, the "Seek and Find Passed Out Overdose Victim in a Car" scavenger hunt. :sshrug: Geez, these are great selling points.

Mindless data mining and reports written by someone who has never set foot on the ground. Usually they recommend some college town in Kansas.

Before clicking on it, I could tell that it must have been Kiplinger. Either them or 'business insider'.

What does it say about Maryland that the best place to retire in the whole state is...Lexington Park?

Says nothing about Maryland and everything about the mindless drone who wrote that entry. While SMC sees a good number of retirees, that seems to be more a result of navy guys who just retire here to go into the contractor world. Most retirees in MD seem to cluster around Annapolis and St Michaels on the eastern shore.
