Okay, I'm following you now. Sorry, for loosing it. Like you said, you are speaking of an experience, one cannot argue with that. It's usually what I do, too. Sorry if you've been mistreated. I just love this country so much and it's people. I truly wish all would be good to each other. It's a dream, might as well dream big.
You'll find it hard to offend me. I personally don't have religion, but I never look down on people who do. It's a personal thing. I preach perspective and too ofeten I find people find it easy to shout about the treatment of christians abroad (in countries with laws against preaching any religion other than the state religion) but neglect to see the oppression of religions here in the US because they are not christian, and therefore suspect. You always have to look through another man's eyes, but no one said you have to think like him.

The people that perform these atrocities don't want to come here. They don't want us there and they aren't trying to get here. The people that come here do want something nicer and that's why they come. But there are people here in this country like there are people in that contry that don't want them here. Like in both country's these people are a small percentage of the population, but for some reason no one seems to notice that. The people that did this to that chistian was a small group of extremists. But when a small group of religious extremist in the US (The KKK) does something to someone of Jewish or Islamic faith it pretty much goes unnoticed.

I agree with this post more than anything else in this thread.

Have you ever lived anywhere else? Most of the people who come here recently are from very poor nations or nations with dictatorships. You no longer see a large mass of western or northern Europeans or Japanese, coming to the U.S.

No. I know where they're fleeing from.

I have visited other places, kissed American ground when returned.

You may be a bit surprised to find out that many Japanese feel the same way when they return home since violent crimes are very rare and so is the use of illegal drugs.

A lot of people love their native country, even when the conditions there are horrible. The government and lack of economic opprotunity is another story.

I kissed the ground of Poland when my ship made a port visit there even though I'm 3rd generation. It's the home of my history. The language is horrible though.

No, not surprised, and you shouldn't be surprised me getting upset when my country opens it's arms and doors for all to come in so they can have better life and then have people talk about how crappy it is here.

Not saying you've complained, but there are those that do.

But talking about how crappy it is is what makes them true Americans!

That's the price for democracy...plus a lot of the people complaining are native born Americans. Sometimes you need to make some noise to let people know you think something is wrong. You have enough voices and things may change. If the first person doesn't speak out many others may be afraid to be labeled "un-American" just for disagreeing with the government's official position.

You know we're going to get flamed when everyone wakes up in the morning right Triggerfish?

I don't know how many years you have been in but I just passed my 14th year in the navy. I think we earned to speak our minds more than the average person in SOMD.

No country is perfect, however it may be the best for you but not so for some if you deviate too much from the mainstream.

I was refering to other religions in the US.
Islam
Mormon

etc...
I agree that minority religions in the US have it a LOT better than minority religions in other countries, especially the ones ruled by Islamist theocracies.

Still, it's shameful when Americans from other religions are treated like they're not full citizens. Have you been following the Air Force Academy story?

http://www.gazette.com/display.php?id=1307599&secid=1

Morton said she was pressured to deny a report by Yale Divinity School professor Kristen Leslie that a chaplain told 600 cadets during basic training last year “to go back to their tents and tell their fellow cadets that those who are not born again will burn in the fires of hell.”
http://www.sltrib.com/opinion/ci_2767817

There is significant cross-pollination between the local evangelical groups and the academy, to the point where cadets are reportedly cajoled, harangued and even bullied into being ''saved"...

Mikey Weinstein, an attorney in Albuquerque, N.M., has been collecting complaints of this nature for more than a year and says he has about 150 of them. Weinstein is a graduate of the academy, as is his elder son. But when his youngest son, who is a member of the class of 2007, was called a ''f-- Jew'' and taunted as a Christ killer, Weinstein got involved.

''The Air Force Academy is suffering from a constitutional disease,'' Weinstein said. ''They are trying to tell people whose God is best.''

''There's nothing wrong with people reaching out to cadets,'' Morton said. ''But when the purpose is to proselytize and make the military into a godly force, then that's inappropriate.''

What are we talking about in here? It started off with the beheaded Baptist, and now we're talking about immigration.

Bustem, I challenge you to find me one, just one, example of someone being beheaded in this country because of their religion. And it's already come out that a lot of those mosque bombings were Muslims themselves, trying to stir up crap and make everyone feel sorry for them.

Yes, we have criminals in this country, but at least we try and capture them and get them off the streets. In other countries, criminal behavior and violence is a way of life - it's what they do, from their lowliest citizen on up to the people running the country.

So let's dispense with the stupid argument that this country is just as bad as Pakistan or some other third-world #### hole. Go the frig back to Tokyo or Poland or wherever you came from, if it's so wonderful there and the US is such a terrible place. Nobody's stopping you.
