The End Times

Do you think we are approaching, or in them?

We are approaching the year 10,000. And approaching the year 250,000. So yeah. We're approaching the end times.

However, we are most definitly not in them. There are a plethora of prophecies that need to be fulfilled before we can declare that the eschaton is at hand. And they haven't been yet.

Major signs:
The Dome of the Rock still sits upon the Temple Mount.
The Wailing Wall still stands.
Nobody (that I'm aware of) has made a seven year pact with Israel.
If you subscribe to the pre-apocolypse rapture (which i do not), that hasn't happened yet either.

So we're safe for at least seven years.

Keep an eye out for two guys in Jerusalem who stir up all sorts of trouble.

Many believe we are indeed "in" the last days since the nation of Israel was formed in "one day" on May 15, 1948. I believe we are. I don't know when Jesus is coming back, but I think the signs are showing that His return is not too far off. It may not happen in my lifetime, then again, it might. One reason I post so urgently here is that I really don't want anyone to be lost; CC, Vrai, itsbob, anyone. The return of the Jews to the land of Israel is one of the fulfilled prophesies of the last days.

Isaiah 66:8

8"Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things?
Can a land be born in one day?
Can a nation be brought forth all at once?
As soon as Zion travailed, she also brought forth her sons.
The whole section of Isaiah 66:7-9 speaks of the birth of Israel like the birth of a baby. Some scholars believe that the generation that sees the "birth" of Israel will be alive when Jesus returns.

By the way, the holocaust was prophesied in Isaiah 65.
Isaiah 65:11-12

11"But you who forsake the LORD,
Who forget My holy mountain,
Who set a table for Fortune,
And who fill cups with mixed wine for Destiny,
12I will destine you for the sword,
And all of you will bow down to the slaughter
Because I called, but you did not answer;
I spoke, but you did not hear.
And you did evil in My sight
And chose that in which I did not delight."
For those that would nit pick that the Jews did not die by the sword, the Hebrew can be also translated destruction or death.

The other thing I would note is that Jesus said the events leading up to His return would be like birth pangs. As any mother can tell you, labor pains get closer together (more frequent) and stronger as the baby gets closer to being born.

How about past them, Jesus said that he would return before his generation passes. And he also told them that some that stood there that day wouldn't taste death.

No He didn't. He said that the generation that saw the signs that He described to His disciples as related in Matthew 24 would not pass; that some of the generation that sees the Abomination as described in Daniel would not taste death. You have to read in context, not isolated verses.

You're the one jumping out of context 2A. Lets start back at verse 24 of Matthew 16.

Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Mat 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Mat 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Mat 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Mat 16:28 Verily I say unto you,HIS DISCIPLES There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

He didn't say
that some of the generation that sees the Abomination as described in Daniel would not taste death.

Denmark has already made statements in disbelief.. along the lines of, what the he!! were they thinking?

Denmark or the Netherlands? The Netherlands is the country with all the reclaimed land and the dikes. Either way they don't have tropical storms up there. Only thing they're concerned is the rising sea levels.

Over the course of history there have been many times that people considered were "The End". Based on that I say no, it's natural for people to think these things during horrific events.

Uh, no. I copied a large chunk of data from a NOAA data report and manually converted it so people could read it. I'm not sure why this merited a response from you... nor what your LOL implies.

My point was that there have been large and deadly hurricanes for centuries and that Katrina, as bad as it was, wasn't the largest or deadliest by far. Hurricanes happen every year and our love for beachfront property has only contributed to the problem.

I'm not questioning your point, I got that. Did I anywhere on my post say I did not get the point or question it? However a lot of people copy and paste wiki and use it as a source although at times wiki can be questionable since anyone can go there at anytime and change information on it. What you posted was word for word of what I saw on wiki before you posted so I thought you copied and pasted.

That is the danger of not giving attribution.

One has to wonder what it was like in China back then. I mean, they didn't have the highrises and grandiose bridges that we have today. What could possibly fall on all 830,000 of these people besides loosely constructed homes and temples. Perhaps I'm making large assumptions here but it would be interesting to know the answer nonetheless.
Gongs. Big brass gongs. And Temple Bells. :yikes: And being stabbed through and through by falling on chopsicks! :yikes: Fear the Gongs! (That would make a fun bumper sticker!)
