i hate the smell in most tents. it gets muggy and sticky, i want an open tent, with just a screen, like those things we had at our engagement party, but with a floor!
that was just the corner of the tarp duh. tent was doing great!

mine wasn't smelly at all
it wasn't hot out so it didn't get muggy at all. i didn't even use my fan the entire time.but as for the tents, mine had a big rainflap on top of a basically open screen top. i think Canadian's may be like that too. Bacon's was pretty open on the second night as well.
