Why is it acceptable for christians to believe their fiction, but it's not okay for athiests to believe our fiction?

I will write my congressmen about lifting the ban on non-theistic fiction.

Why is it okay to take creative liberty with some truths, but not those truths considered christain?

I will include the ban on artistic license in my letter.

Wasn't that what I was saying in the first place? It doesn't so much offend me, as I'm not fanatical. The whole thought of Jesus having sex skeezes me out though. Sort of like reading a fictional book that someone wrote and used my parents as the main banging characters. :barf:

I wonder how many people would be turned on or feel enlightened by a book portraying Santa and Mrs. Clause bangin it out like rabbits. :faint: It's just sort of creepy. Know what I mean? :ohwell:

I would love to see you read it and give me your opinion :yay:

But she made it a controversial book about Christ getting jiggy because she knew people would read it.

Books aren't writte to sit on the shelf and collect dust.

One person's truth is another persons fiction. If one takes issue with it, it's a personal problem.

Nobody cares if you are an atheist or not.
...and nobody cares if you're christian or not. People who choose to read this book don't care what you think, either. They're still going to read it, have an opinion, like it or not like it, and there is nothing you or any other person can do about it besides whine and complain.

Whatever. To mock something that is sacred to others is rude and disrespectful. But at least have some honesty and say, "Yes, my intention is to be rude and disrespectful" instead of hiding behind some artistic license silliness.

Who's whining and complaining, Miss Dixie Chick? All I did was give an opinion.

Why? I already said that reading Jesus porn skeezes me out. It's just not my cup of tea. Certain things give me the ick factor. That is one of them.

The DaVinci code was an alright book, and it dealt with Jesus having babies and such. The difference was, it didn't go in to great detail of Jesus "getting it done".

It really pizzes you off that I dare disagree with you and that I think wanton disrespectful behavior towards a persons religion is classless doesn't it?

BTW I am not a Christian, I don't posses the same restraint they do. I would punch someone right in the melon if they were so pompous to think they could assault my deep personal beliefs.

Ok, what exactly is your problem then?

The fact that people who would be offended by this book actually have the nerve to exist?

Exactly. No child finds the thought of their parents banging tasteful, but that doesn't make it a lie.

Are we discussing Santa and Mrs. Claus or Jesus? Doesn't matter because I don't want to read about either of them doing it. :lalala:

The list of what is considered sacred to others is very long.

:yeahthat: or the "I love to discuss religion, it intrigues me" as they go about trying to dismantle someones belief system.

Jesus was a 30 year old man. He lived a man's life. I hate for this book to be taken out of context. Jesus has sex with His wife in the book. If you are lucky enough to have sex with someone you love it can be spiritual. The Geek Spanker and I have had many beautiful moments.

It is pretty hard to be rude and disrespectful these days isn't it. We all just have to try harder :yay:

True. However, this is rather traditional and long-standing. It's not like some Muslim declaring jihad because they think an ice cream cone looks like Allah.

I think that's a bit of a stretch, and I have no problem with debate and the dismantling of one's belief's and such. There is a way to do it on both sides that isn't derogatory. (but what fun is that? )

Anyway, I'm just free flow rambling now. :jameo: :lmao:

Are you saying that recommending this book is disrespectful?

A woman covering her head in public is long standing as well.
