Ben & Jerry's blasted for spreading misinformation about Kyle Rittenhouse, inventing hypothetical scenario to bring race into the case

Progressive ice cream brand Ben & Jerry's dished out misinformation about Kyle Rittenhouse, plus completely invented a hypothetical scenario regarding the controversial shooting to racialize the powderkeg court case. The Vermont-based woke ice cream purveyor was called out for spreading a false narrative online.

Ben & Jerry's – which is owned by multinational conglomerate Unilever that boasted revenue of approximately $58 billion in 2020 – promoted a fallacy about Rittenhouse that has been debunked for more than a year. The Lake County State's Attorney's Office released a statement on Oct. 13, 2020, clarifying that Rittenhouse never had possession of the firearm used during the Kenosha riots while he was in Illinois.

An extensive investigation was conducted by the Antioch Police Department regarding the gun used in a shooting in Kenosha on Aug. 28. The Lake County State's Attorney's Office has reviewed that investigation to determine if any crimes were committed in Lake County, Illinois. To that end, the investigation revealed the gun used in the Kenosha shooting was purchased, stored and used in Wisconsin. Additionally, there is no evidence the gun was ever physically possessed by Kyle Rittenhouse in Illinois.

Fact-checker Lead Stories published an article this week titled: "Kyle Rittenhouse Did NOT Cross State Lines With An AR-15."

The gun he used in the shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was "purchased, stored and used in Wisconsin," the Lake County Illinois State's Attorney's Office said in a statement. A friend testified during Rittenhouse's 2021 trial that he purchased the gun used in the shooting in Wisconsin, The New York Times reported. Court records obtained by The Washington Post showed that the rifle used in the shooting in Wisconsin went from Wisconsin to Illinois and then back but it was in the trunk of a car driven by Rittenhouse's friend and was not in Rittenhouse's possession while he was in Illinois.

Liberal law professor excoriates prosecutors, media over 'crash and burn' of Kyle Rittenhouse trial

What about the media?

Unfortunately, how one perceives what happened at the trial largely depends on your media consumption, Turley observed.

"[T]he reason for this developing failure [by the prosecution] depends greatly on what media you are watching other than the trial itself. It is either the product of systemic errors or systemic racism," Turley wrote.

Turley explained:
The problem is that many people may be unaware that the case is collapsing due to such evidentiary or tactical failures. Any hung jury or acquittal will come as a shock, and the level of outrage is likely to be greater. This case began with violent rioting in Kenosha, and the news coverage is fueling the danger of renewed violence.

It is even worse in that some coverage has dismissed the trial as an exhibition of raw racism. Some have criticized Judge Bruce Schroeder after he enforced long-standing constitutional principles and defended the core constitutional right of the defendant against self-incrimination.

Vox publishes a piece on ‘the enduring power and privilege of white tears’ after Kyle Rittenhouse breaks down

Rittenhouse “resorted to a tried-and-true strategy for white men,” Smith writes:
Whether or not the crying was real, it was a performance, and it had an audience. Like many white men accused of violent crimes and misconduct before him, Rittenhouse appealed with his tears not merely to the 12 fellow citizens who will decide his fate, but also to certain white members of the American public who too often see emotion like that and imagine only the faces of their sons — not any born to mothers who look like mine.
There is evidence that Rittenhouse conspicuously aligned himself with the “blue lives matter” crowd, so it’s worth considering his sobbing within the context of the toxic and limited view of manhood that remains so popular in America, particularly among the modern political right. Some compared Rittenhouse to Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s reaction when questioned during his confirmation hearings about Christine Blasey Ford’s credible allegations of sexual assault. Wednesday’s display from Rittenhouse bore some similarities to Kavanaugh’s sanctimonious anger, which he often dotted with cracks in his voice. As I wrote at the time, the future Supreme Court justice took advantage of the leeway that his gender and privilege affords to him, and Rittenhouse did the same.

I'm with you there, but to put out an opinion as fact, and back it up with something that has been proven to be a lie, is just astounding. The people who ingest this BS "news" and believe it, are too stupid to be allowed to choose our "leaders".

These are some sick Mother phuckers.. These are journalists? No they are mentally sick low life Mother honkers, vile examples of the worst kind of human trash. They need to be stepped on and squashed like the insects they are.

Vox isn't news or anything legit - it's a rando blog run by Marxists from NYT and WashPo. I'm not sure why it gets attention except that the news people want it to. Twitchy is freaking obsessed with Vox, which is the only reason I know it exists. Tucker Carlson also regularly gives them free (or maybe not) advertising.

Like you said, they're human trash and not to be used as a legitimate source of news or even opinion.

The media is trying to scare the people in Kenosha with lead stories, Kenosha bracing for verdict.

Don't know what they are referring to. Who's going to riot besides a bunch of Antifa thugs if he's left off. Those would likely be people from outside of town.

Zionist/Bolsheviks doing what they can to maintain division. "By Way of Deception, Thou Shalt Do War" is their motto. Everyone should be boycotting their crappy highly processed fake ice cream anyways because it is crap, just like these two are.

So the small businesses that will burn will be less burnt if Malik from Detroit tosses the match? Where they are from doesnt really matter in that context.

I can't recall a recent time where the media was clamoring for a guilty verdict. The Chauvin case was already determined before trial began. Casey Anthony was probably the last time there was a hint of what the media thought should happen. Before that, it was them hoping for a not guilty verdict for OJ.

My shower thoughts about a jury -

If I ever sat on a jury, I would want to be the foreman because I like to be in charge and I think I am a leader that can bring people to a consensus. The first thing I would do once given the case would be to take a poll, anonymously written on a piece of paper, of the 11 jurors as to whether you think the defendant is innocent or guilty. This would give me a idea how long and how much work will be needed to come to a consensus. If it's a 6-6 vote, I think at that point we just play hangman for the next 12 hours and then declare to the judge we are hung. If there is a consensus on innocent or guilty, we can immediately adjourn and give the judge our verdict and we have saved a lot of time. But if it's an 11-1 vote, with me being the 1, then I got some work to do to convince the other 11 that I am right! Bring in the pizza and the adult beverages because it's going to be a loooong week.

So for those that have sat on jury deliberations, how does it really work?

Just like this except you left out the part where you question everyone's ancestry and tell them to GFT.
