I can kind of relate to your pain. When I moved into my house (keep in mind two years ago) I tried to get Direct TV hooked up. They said I had to have the comcast that was currently running to the house shut off first. I was ok with this because I wanted the comcast shut off anyways as it was in the previous owners name and I didnt want her coming after me later for using her cable. Well I went to the comcast office on several occasions to be told as long as the previous owners had a remaining balanbce on their account, they wouldnt shut it off. And it wasnt deliquent enough to be shut off by them. Yes I was receiving free cable but we ended up having to battle with the preivous owners to get the account taken care of as it definitely wasnt at the top of their priority list. I just didnt understand why as the new owner of the home I could have the Comcast shut off coming to my house, it was ridiculous.

If you told them it was shut off, how would they have known??

MAYBE when they got out there, but guess what, the technician wouldn'thave cared. They'd just do the install so they could get paid, and be on their way.

I've had a couple of Comcast horror stories. They all start with "Digital Cable."

We got a 61-inch DLP HDTV 1080p TV. So we need a cable box to hook it up for Comcast HD. We get this and they said they had to come out and run a line because it didn't work. All this was because my neighbors had their TV hooked up to the terminal behind a spliter that ours was on. That's how the ####ing Comcast tech did it.

So they set that up and have everything working, EXCPET THE INTERNET. So we call them to have the modem put back online and they run me through their standard bull#### procedure. I was like "Look dude, I've done this already. I've done it 100 times. The #### doesn't work."

Get that fixed and now the TV in my room isn't working. Now I'm really hot. I hook it up to my PC and it works fine. So finally I replace the cable box and we had to replace several of them.

In short, we had to replace all but one of the cable boxes.

Just letting you know - a temp line will be out there for 3 or 4 months until you go ##### about it to someone, in person.

I wanna say BG's sister had a temp line in their yard for as long as I've known them.. I think they trenched their yard and buried it themselves.
