During the times you are talking is one of the highest call volumes. With the number of police officers on the street, what would be your solution to have a higher traffic enforcement during these peaks call hours? What do you believe the solution should be?
Someone else said during morning and evening rush. Seems a simple roof mounted camera right above the troopers head recording dashcam style on a two minute loop with a button to freeze the last 60 seconds would allow for officers to move through traffic and issue cell phone use tickets quickly and easily. And with the video to back up the officers observation the caes would have a very low court rate.

Take those Sunday morning hours and put them out at random hours that are not rush hours. Being a motorcycle rider. I see everyone on phones, usually driving worse than DUI.

That’s not a bad idea, but not something which could be done by the local MSP. As far as the sheriff, the issue isn’t the will do do traffic enforcement at those peak hours, but the ability to do traffic enforcement and handle call volume.

How do you know there aren't?
Because I do. I don’t want to give the number of officers on the road at any given time, but I’ll be happy to say that the 140 member sheriff’s office is down about 20 officers. That doesn’t take into account the number of officers who are on light duty or off due to injuries, pregnancies, maternity or paternity leave, or other illnesses.

If you're that concerned with a camera speeding ticket, just buy and mount a bike rack. If they can't read the tag clearly they can't send it. If it get's sent without all characters readable you have reasonable doubt.

If you read my concerns, they have nothing to do with me getting a ticket and everything to do with enforcement for profit and revenue with no increase in safety to not being a good idea.

Right now. We do not have a recorded of anyone in any school zone being injured or killed by a speeder. So what problem are we solving?

Again, I've not called for enforcement during those times. What I would recommend is dedicated cell phone enforcement outside of peak hours in place of stationary speed enforcement. I would argue that when you look at the crashes we have, distraction and failure to yield are greater hazards to safety.

But I understand that traffic enforcement hours are paid for by grants. And grants require metrics showing they are used effectively. And the sure way to get numbers is stationary enforcement when people feel safe, Sat or Sun morning. Vicious cycle.

My post shouldn't have been directed in a reply but more an observation of how to "beat" them.

I view traffic camera's as you. They are being placed to give a good feeling that govt is "doing something" to make constituents safe. The problem is non-existent in terms of safety as I don't recall any St. Marys children being struck in a school zone.
